Buy a set of 110+ heads or have yours worked
Have the heads worked, put on a 58 mm SE Throttle body due to no one else has FBW yet, put on a K&N or other similiar air cleaner that is reusable.  (do not recommend HD Filter they fall apart)
Move your badges from your stock heads to the new heads so they say 110
Have your head builder match your cam / style of riding to the new heads
MasterTune / dyno tune bike
Custom Pistons or HD's Mahle 10.5 to 1 pistons
Adjustable pushrods S&S
Lifters S&S
Can use your juggs or get Axtels :)
If over 600 lift cam put in Roller Rockers
Aim v92T pressure clutch (Lockout)

Exhaust is going to be your stumbling point for a little bit.  Personally remove the Catalytic Converters, put in a 2 inch baffle from Full Sac and wait and see what other options avail themselves in pipes over the next 6 months etc.

From there I know that the 110 is capable of putting out 128/122 at 10.5 to 1 compression.  You could go higher in compression and gain more, but that should be enough to play with your buddies.

Good luck and look forward to hearing what you end up doing and how it turns out.

Some builders to talk to:

Thanks for the advice, but I was thinking about a smaller engine, maybe the stock 96 possible the 103", as making it that much larger would be a tell-tale sign to anyone with ears that aren't plastic. Also after riding several of the 09 CVO bikes I found that the short revving 110 didn't fit me at all. BTW the 09 touring bikes don't have a catalytic converter unless they are international or California models (I could be mistaken on this but pretty sure) .

sorry, I have a 2009 FLHX with a stock (except for a heavy breather housed inside the football cover)96 inch motor. maybe I don't really here, but cvoharley.com seems to have the most concise answers with no bull or drama.

Ding Ding Ding, We have a winner, Chip is correct all 110 cvo's have the CC.  And you are correct not all 09's have them.

I was considering you were talking about doing a CVO bike with a 110 presumption the mother of all uckfups.  If your pleasant, enjoy your bike, want some help and don't mind being part of our OCD community then you are more than welcome to this site.   I shouldnt have presumed, you had a 110, but it is all good.   The information is still pretty much the same except for what I listed below for you.   Around here don't be worried about it being just an FLHX we don't care long as you enjoy the scooter and enjoy the site and hopefully get to meet some of us at a gathering.  Hell we even ride with the Wingers and such.  Just ask ole BB he has LD  Lots of Dollars i mean Los Dragonness hehe.  We only pick on him for taking posts and hijacking them bad BB hehe.

Back on track:

If you do a 103 same things apply except I would use your stock heads since there are no logos to be conscious of.  As an example I personally know several of the 103's that John Sachs has done and all of them run fantastic and are very quiet running.   It is his heads and a Andrews 55 cam at around 10 to 1 compression they all have been reliable to this point.   I am not saying other builders don't do the same things, just very familiar with his 103 combo.   Maybe John will chime in and you can also ask him about Grooves haha.

I also recently purchased a sert or the bike, but I've been hearing that there are better tuners for it. if so what makes them that much better? Also does anyone have the 2009 cd, harley doesn't sell it with a working one and I have to wait for my dealer to get it in.

Chip,

I am being forced to say it.  I am leaving the bike stock, I am leaving the bike stock, I am leaving the bike stock.

ok ... i believe it now don't you.  ::)

My buddy in Texas is hogging his core bit and I have not received it yet.   That is kind of like an infringement of the more taste league and the commish should punish him.

Actually my plan is the following

OCD fulfillment
Open Air Breather not Heavy Breather
Full Sac 2" cores probably until some pipe choices avail themselves
Mastertune for 2 bikes
More OCD and saving for that Jim's motor while praying for no leaks.

The mastertune is a better tool at this point.   It allows you to use a larger throttlebody, and allows you to gather data while you ride and tells you what to change your map too after the ride and then all you do is reupload it to the computer.

It will also pull out the map you have in the bike, where the SERT/Super Sert will not.

It has more tables available to you to help tune the bike.   It is made by the same guy that made the original SERT, then Harley changed vendors.   He has the most experience with these Harley just wouldnt allow him to open up all the features now he can.

Hope that helps you understand it better :)  If not go to the ECM area and also check out the Mastertune web site.

for a hot rod motor that looks stock, here's what I'd do...pick any of the builders unbalanced listed...have your stock heads ported, including 1.94 intake and 1.625 exhaust valves...your stock cylinders can be bored to 3&15/16"...this will make the motor 106 cubic inches...screamin' eagle 251 cams...these cams work well from 10.3 to 10.7 compression (consider how much two-up riding, quality of gas in your area, if you live in hot climate, etc to decide which compression is right for you)...manual compression releases...crane adjustable pushrods...cometic .030" head gaskets...screamin' eagle 58mm throttle body (have it cleaned up by a pro)...a free flowing air cleaner...definitely upgrade your clutch...an oil cooler is a necessity on hot rod motors...a good 2 into 1 exhaust...the supermeg is what I run...it is the quietest performance exhaust available...if you'll tell us where you live, we can recommend a good tuner

Redtwin,

You send him a PM here on the site or if that doesn't work let me know via a PM and I will send you his number.

I also googled him and used the criteria John Sachs Head Porting and the first link was useful

Check this page out :)

if I were in augusta, I would go with one of these choices:   t-man performance in kernersville, nc...hdmd tuning center near orlando, fl...kevin baxter of head-quarters in atlanta, 678-939-8029...these are three of the best in the industry
