Internet Phone Service
« on: August 14, 2005, 12:46:18 PM »

Anyone out there have any thoughts on this. In the process of checking this out. So many ?. In my case it would save a few bucks ( 15 ) a month with a whole lot of extra services .I have the high speed connection so why wouldn't I want to use this for phone service.... Should just dump the phone line since we all have cell phone, but not ready to make the complete break yet. I respect all your thoughts on this subject. That why I put it out there in this forum. Thanks

LugNut, send Nite-Al a PM......I know he recently switched to exactly what you're talking about and has been very satisfied, but I can't remember which company he went with.....so would hate to say the wrong one.    [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]   spyder

sure can, i disconected my verzion line where it cam into the house. plugged it into the VOIP box and i was done. the VOIP box will act as a brodband router so you can replace what you are using and wont need anymore equipment then you already have. i chose to back it in behind my existing router cause i didnt want to change any of my settign around anywhere. if you decide to go with them let me know. if i send you a referal and you sign up we both get a free month

Hi Lugnut, I did make the switch a few months ago, I went with Time-Warner, primarily because I had my high speed internet service with them, however if I had my TV service with them, it would save me another $5.00 per month, I was paying more than I'm paying now and all long distance calls were blocked, I was doing long distance through the office, I now have all long distance calls free and all the other caller ID,call waiting and etc, more than I even use are free and so far the price has stayed the very same each month, which I think is around $44.00 per month. It's $39.95 per month if you have all 3 with them (TV-Internet-Phone). Time-Warner came out, furnished what I needed and set all phones up for free, I have 5 in house phones and I did keep my same number. Up to this point, I have been very pleased with the service and Time-Warner has certainly lived up to their agreement.
Good luck,
Nite-Al  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]
