Was driving home from work this evening and the topic came up of this 63 Pontiac basket case opening with a $500 bid and selling for over $226,500 in Michigan earlier this month.  Item # 110306170567 if the link doesn't work.

If you have time- read the listing on how it kept being updated, the questions/answers,   and one quy asking for a Buy it Now of $150,000 early in the listing.  Frantic bidding in the last minutes.  Wonder if these auctions are really real?  Did this guy know what he was selling from the beginning of the listing?  Good reading for us car buff guys too.

The only way I'd let me SEEG go for that much money is the wife found out somebody was offering me that much, she sold it, and collected the insurance for my "disappearance". I guess I still wouldn't be the "one" letting it go.

Evidently the collector car world knows something about the potential value of this car that the rest of us don't.  That was one incredible auction!

The amazing/sad part about this is how many of us have had the opportunity to own a car like that when we were younger and just passed it by.

I once owned a '57 Chevy Bel Air that I let go for under 1k.
