race tuner vs power commander
« on: August 23, 2005, 10:49:02 PM »

I have a 05 yellow seeg electraglide.  I put rinehard true dual exhaust and it runs very lean.  I have been told I need either a HD race tuner or a power commander.  Any thoughts on which might be best suited for me?

Welcome aboard.  Check up across the top of the page and you'll see a button listed as "Search" next to a magnifying glass icon.  In the search box enter Power Commander or PCIII or PC USB or Race Tuner or other iterations as you think of them.  You'll be covered in responses where comparisons between the two and advice (pro and con) has been doled out.

The only advice between the two I'd offer is not to choose.  This is, after all, a device you are almost certainly going to be paying someone to do all the final detail work with.  Someone else will be getting the most out of it for you.  That being so, check your area, find out who is the closest GOOD dyno tuner, ask him which he prefers, and then buy that one.  Since you're going to be paying him to use the tool anyway you might as well get whichever tool he is best with.

Abajon,

I would prolly suggest looking for a Power Commander Tuner as most guys that do Power Commander tuning generally don't like to mess with Harley's Race Tuner.

"Generally",  you're going to find that as a rule of thumb that if you want to have the Harley Race Tuner you will have to find a good Harley dealer with a good tuner to do the tuning for you and these are rare finds as a whole.

One suggestion would be to have a stage one put in at a Harley Dealer and then purchase a Power Commander USB model off the web to save  you money and then go to an authorized well recommended Dyno guy that you have confidence in.
