103 Eagle,

I will be well pleased to get a torque curve like that out of my D&D fatcats...thats what I am hoping for and why I bought the 2-1.

As it stands, in my opnion and not taking anything away from the owner, it's not that impressive.  I think it may lie with the tuner.  Go through the dyno pages and take a look at some of them......
My bike, with the Vance & Hines Pro Pipe is dumping 100 HP and 104.6 lb. ft. of torque.....or look at my friend Ernie's dyno sheet with the Thunderheader (with dummy left side) the last dyno sheet on this thread, 102 HP and 111.2 TQ (that's very nice torque for a stock bike).........

Rather than look at absolute maximum numbers, which can be affected by the dyno operator, the equipment itself, the test method (ie. STD vs SAE), etc., look at the shape of the curve.  The curve without the dip between 2500 and 3500 will be much more enjoyable to ride in everyday situations.  Peak numbers are important in drag racing, but I doubt that most of us ride these things like a crotch rocket.

This may sound silly, but how hard is it to change these baffles? Is it just as simple as
undoing a single screw and sliding them out and the other in?

I may just end  all my worries and order the performance baffle also and that way i have both, and i can have the dyno guy do runs with both setups and see which he says is the best set-up for me [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

You dont change baffles you change Muffler.   The performance one isnt setup to take the screw where the standard one goes and vice versa.

OK, if anyone can get a concrete answer from someone at D & D on which baffle we really should use, please post it here.  I am still BAFFLED ( he he ) on which one to use for the 103 motors.  I think the 103 part is the most important thing to mention when talking to the tech.
Thanks

103Eagle,

I spoke to the R&D guy from D&D and he said the standard baffle is the way to go so he sent me two new mufflers one for each bike they arrived today and will be installed tomorrow.   They even sent me a drop tag on their nickel for the mistake they made in the original sale.   They sent it exactly as they said they would so no complaints from me.  I will know tomorrow night how they sound.

The new muffler has been installed and they are really not any louder then the 2 1/2 baffles on the rhineharts as a comparison.   I am happy and the exhaust will remain.   the challenge I have now is to get the bike redyno'd.

If someone wants I will replace the pro baffle sound wave I have the link to with a new one with the standard baffle.

Also the falsie ghost pipe now matches the standard baffle ....  when you look at the back of the bike you see what seems to be the same muffler even though the left side is a blank.   I am much happier with the R&D guys suggestion to run this muffler.

Unbalanced, I'm not sure of the sound level of the rineharts so that comparsion doesn't help me. Are they just a tad bit quiter than what the performance baffle was or is it a big drop in noise level?

Another sound wave would be great if you get a chance [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Thanks again.....

I like the true duals in that they don't cover the left side tranny / motor. TQ HP on the dyni just isn't that different stock. Either you're going to buid the motor or you ain't. If you ain't.....WHO CARES!!!!

The sound is much deeper and richer in my opinion I like it a lot and tonight i had the bike out with some friends for a bike night gathering at 2 different places and got several compliments on the sound of the pipes.   I can hear the radio I can talk to my wife and its not driving me nuts.   These same guys are also glad I no longer have the pro baffle / muffler installed and the bike seems to run quite a bit better now :).

Where I dont agree is in the point made by PCC that it doesnt help a stock bike I believe it helps a stock bike as much as it helps a built bike as it helps to increase the low end / mid range of the bike a bit more.    HDJams when I get done with my work tomorrow I will post up and let you know I have the new sound wave out there for you and whoever else wants it.  I will also post the a few new picts to show the Muffler before I install it on the 04.

I installed the performance baffle last night and after riding to work this morning (50 miles) my initial impressions are that it is quite a bit louder and feels stronger upstairs, I definately lost some low end pull and I was very pleased with the tapered baffle sound. The verdict isn't in on weather to keep it on or go back to the tapered baffle!!! [smiley=cool3.gif]
