Decided to remove the Arnotts and throw on a pair of Progressive 430s in the contrast cut.
Got the 12" ones and will be giving them the test on our 13 day bike trip to Texas and back
starting tomorrow Morning.
If anyone is interest in the Arnotts let me know, with chrome handlebar switch.

Put my name on them and we will work out the price.

Why did you decide to remove the Arnott's?
Why did you go with Progressive 430s?
I've been looking at Progressive 440 to replace my stock shocks. Like to hear what you have to say based on your experiences.

What is the differnce between the 440 and 430's?

Duane,
Here is the scoop from Progressive from their website in a nut shell.
440s:
-IAS, Inertia Active System.  This seperates wheel movement with chassis movement.
Progressive rate spring around a state of the art damper and top (and bottom!) it off with machined aluminum
end caps.
-A top mount threaded preload adjuster allows for fine tuning with a simple twist of the cap and the 440 Series is available in 2 finishes and multiple spring rates as well as the ideal stock or lowered length for your bike.

430s:
-High pressure gas mono tube design with deflective disk damping to insure high performance ride control
-The 430 Series can also be mounted rod up or rod down, depending on your application.
-Threaded pre-load adjusters allow for tool-less adjustment, and effortless tuning of ride quality.
-First of their kind, machined aluminum spring perches and street rod styling of the new 430 Series are complimented by smooth lines and a polished chrome body.
-Available in chrome or contrast cut black anodized finish to match the look of your bike.

Big difference is the IAS, which I guess I am not quite sure what that can really do for the bike, but sounds good.
I like that both have the eay adjustment too.
I too am collecting a shelf full of shocks like you, HaHa.

JW,
I realized that I didn't use the "up and down" feature as much as I intended
and figured that I would take them off and see if there was someone out there
who could use the Air system.  I knew I didn't want to put the stock ones back
on because I already experienced them.
I went with the 430s because I have them on my Street Bob and absolutley dig
them on it.  Did a trip to Florida(1500 total miles) on the bobber with it on the softest
setting and it was great.  The bike handles awesome in corners and over bumps it is
pure enjoyment.  So I figured I would try those for Big Red and see if they would make a
good difference on a Touring bike.  Headed out tomorrow on a 12/13 day trip on the bike and
will be stopping at BayouBiker's in New Orleans for a couple nights and then over to San Antonio
and then make our way to see Chip in Charolette.  That will be a really good test for these shocks.
I will start in the softest setting and then adjust from there.
Once back I will give a report if unable to during the trip.

So far so good, made it to Destin, Fl and all is good and very happy with these shocks.
Glad I made the change and haven't needed to raise or lower which is the main reason I
wanted the Arnotts.
Headed to New Orleans tomorrow along I10 and that will be a good test!

Good to hear Tim

How tall / weight are you. For comparision purposes....I'm currently spoken for.  ;D

I really like the look of the Black / Chrome 430's but I've been looking at the 440's based on Progressive has told me. I'm not in the mood to spend $700.00 for Bitubo's when I'm use to riding on stock shocks for the past +30 years. That just seems like a heck of alot of money when I can get the 440's for less than 460.00!

Shocks worked great on the trip.
Totaled 2800 miles and not a single
problem.  Had me and about 50 lbs
of stuff in saddlebags and TP and T-Bag.
