50mm Throttle Body part 2
« on: December 23, 2008, 04:57:10 PM »

OK, ebay has been good to me, and I now have SE251 cams ($99, new), SE perfect Fit pushrods ($30, new) and an SE 50mm throttle body ($209, slightly used).  Questions:

1) Can I still use my 27483-07A EFI Intake Manifold Cover?  Supposed to fit up to 07, but I'm guessing my Dremel may help it fit?

2) Do I have to replace my chrome air cleaner backplate (or will the Dremel fix it?) and if I do, should I go for 29624-08, or is there another part?

Jim,
My old TB was 48mm.  New one is HPI 55mm with 58mm plenum.  I have no idea if the back plate was replaced.  I don't see it listed on my list of parts replaced, so I'm guessing it's not, but I'll ask Rod.

He opens in about 3.5 hours.  Need to call him anyway and see if I can pick up the green bike today.

Jim,
Rod used the same backplate I had before.  No worries.  It'll fit.

I bought a set from Kuryakyn, probably same product, same cost. And yes they do make life easy installing the TB. They come with special designed bolts. Between the design of the flange and the modified bolts, getting the bolts tightened is a breeze and nearly impossible with the stock flange and stock bolts.
