Probably need to give Darrell's glove box doors their own thread.  It's doubtful everyone that would be interested in them is looking for them in a thread titled "Looking for the owner of this CVO."  [smiley=confused5.gif]

Then again, maybe I am full of chit! [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Darrel's Glove Boxes in their own thread
« Reply #46 on: September 23, 2005, 07:39:26 AM »

Mr We CVO and Mrs We CVO want an 04 and an 05 set of glove boxes.

Is this a group buy thing?

SInce Two lane ran with the last couple of group buys, we need a new person to step up to the plate and do this right.

What do you think?

Ladies and Gentleman, boys and girls, and small english language reading Chimpanzees everywhere; in the last week I've received three PMs and three emails about these doors.  Unfortunately I'm not a partipant in any ongoing acquisition here.

Darrel is on a vacation trip right now so any definitive answer as to if there will be production and when it will occur won't get answered until he gets back.  Also, if he does produce he's a vendor himself.  So it is unlikely that any coordination and last leg shipping of a bulk order would have to be taken on by any one of you.  You'd just pay Darrel and he'd send them to you.

For what it's worth, I'd not been following this thread but did look at it today after the recent emails and PMs.  It seems that no one really knows how many and of which years everyone wants and how committed the "I want ones" really are.  Someone who is participating here should take the reins, start a thread titled specifically for the topic Locking Doors for the Lowers (or something like that) and make the first post there a description of what you want to buy and a request for commitments to buy.  Then list the names and the numbers for each year model following that.

Only then will you have good quantitative information to provide to the vendor and only then will he be able to decide if production will occur.

MY, I'd probably not go the poll route for what you're wanting to find out.  Way too easy for people that are only "loookers" to vote yes when they have no real intention of buying.  To know if you can give the supplier satisfactory numbers I'd just ask for guys to respond if they want one of the kits.

Start a thread in the "Group Buy" section.  Give it an appropriate title so folks will know what it is just by seeing the thread's title.  Then in the first post make it clear that you need members to respond to you via PM with their name and bike year model.  Also make it clear that that response is a commitment to the supplier if he we's willing to proceed.

As the names come in then just start listing them and the numbers for the 05/later doors and the 04/earlier doors.  Make it a running tally you keep in a separate post in your thread.  You can "modify" your own pre-existing post so keeping that post current and accurate won't be a problem.

Doing this will allow Darrel to know  know what the firm commitments really are.  You'll have supplied him the information necessary to know if he can move to production when his schedule allows.  Short of confirmed information any other discussion is just chatter so far as a manufacturer is concerned.

Twolane,
Thanks, That sounds like a much better method, and I hear you as far as the chatter goes. I'll start that up. The only ? I didnt get to ask Darrell was roughly how much the doors may be running. But I'm going to guess close to or plus the doors from Eglide goodies.
BTW my check will be sent out Monday morning for the patches. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]
Thanks for your advise!!  MARK

Just to get you in the ballpark of what they might cost, they were $250 the last time: http://flhrsei.org/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=eg_gen;action=display;num=1083997512
