looking for an educated guess on what this will cost
« on: December 31, 2008, 09:27:33 PM »

Ok, I think I have a plan with my 110 while it is getting the 905 enhancement.
I requested the dealer to give me the cost to do the following.
1. send warranty (new) heads to T-man to have them ported and finished (valves, guides, springs) r&r heads is warranty
2. send jugs to T-man and have new pistons fitted to jugs (new forged pistons with 10.5 CR)
3. new harley lifters  (preventative measure)
4. T-Man's 590 cams and torrington bearings installed (check crank runout at this time) no warranty issue here
5. new pushrods, to be determined by T-Man
6. have put back on Dyno and tuned

considering a small part of this is warranty work, what do you expect the dealer to come back to me with this build?

I should run a pool to see who ends up with the closest correct answer.

got to come up with a prize or something.

I really have a very little idea what the dealer will tell me but in round numbers on some things I have an estimate in my head for some parts'

headwork $1000.00
pistons     $400.00
cams        $400.00
torrington bearings ?
lifters ?  400.00?
dyno tune $300.00 - $400.00
pushrods ?
labor to hone cylinders to pistons $150.00
dealer labor hrs? cost?

Including labor (assuming $85/hr) bottom line should come in just shy of $4k - - - say $3,950

I really have a very little idea what the dealer will tell me but in round numbers on some things I have an estimate in my head for some parts'

headwork $1000.00  Shouldn't cost that much
pistons     $400.00   About right
cams        $400.00   About right for chain drive cams
torrington bearings ?Minimal, not even worth adding in. Same for Gaskets
lifters ?  400.00?      About $200-$300 depending on brand
dyno tune $300.00 - $400.00 Sounds cheap for a full SERT tune
pushrods ?               About $150
labor to hone cylinders to pistons $150.00 OK
dealer labor hrs? cost? Prolly around $800-a grand

What about the SE camplate? The SE Comp Sprocket? SE Forged Rocker Supports?

So all in all, about $3500-$4000. Add the above additional items for under a grand more. ;)

Good luck with your build!!! :2vrolijk_21:

Subtlety is not required when you have more than two bikes that run!

Obviously I've lived longer than you so my guess; "Way too much!" Been there, done that sort of stuff and now just wish I had that $4500.00.
