Let me 'splain' the dif between regular oil{dyno poop} and syn. oil for people with a small brain like me.  Dyno poop oil  has molecules that are all different in size and shape. Syn. oil is 'man made' and has ALL MOLECULES the same shape and size , {less friction} . I pesonally like and run BEL=RAY EXS 10-50 wt. in motor and gear saver 80 wt. primary 85-140 wt. trans.  Changed the oil in my lawn mover {push type} with 4hp. to BEL-RAY 10-50wt. EXS {SYN.} because didn't have dyno poop ,and WOW , pulled the rope and could not believe it. Ran 500 + rpm higher ! Shut it off and thought about it for awhile ,what did I change other than oil ? NOTHIN ! Pulled the rope again ,same thing. BUT , in my opion ,ANY OIL ,will get you alot of mile.  PERIOD ! I and 3 freinds have put over 100,000+ miles on some EVO's with the 'old' H-D oil '360' and no major problems. I remember running the old H-D oil in the 70s and when you pulled your cap off ,it looked like you were washing dishes ,so much bubbles. We ran KENDALL in those years. good stuff ,  straight 70 wt.  PHX.AZ.

If that's the case, then all I want to know is what you're running.  ;D

Same as many of the guys here, Mobil1, I'd use Amsoil, but it's not as easy to find here. Red Line Heavy Shock in the trans, and MTL in the primary. I don't buy into the extera money for the V-twin, or other motorcycle oils, not much difference for the added price.

my question is on a older scoot 30,000 miles on it or on the speedo anyway, would the synthetic make more noise and if so, what is the best dyno poop? or should i use a heavyer grade synthetic?

Some people say that if you vehicle is more than 8-10 years old, or has over 100,000 miles you shouldn't switch to syn. But there is no real evidence that this it true.

Viscosity is the same for all oils, a 40w syn is tested and rated the same way a 40W dino oil is, so you shouldn't change weights when going to a syn oil. In fact dino oil viscosity starts to brake down much earlier than syn, so after 500 miles or so the syn would have a higher viscosity than the same weight dino oil.

I personally run syn in everything I own, even syn 2 cycle oil in my trimer, and snow blower!

Maybe I missed it earlier, but did you check the cam chain tensioner's?  That is the #1 single biggest problem on the Twin Cam's from '99 thru '06.
