There's no friggin way that should happen. They're supposed to go over the whole bike with you on delivery, show you how everything works including the alarm, and go thru the procedure to deactivate it without the FOB too. There's abosolutely NO EXCUSE for this one. You guys are being way too easy on this dealer!!! You take it from here as to what you want to get out of em, but that place blows for skimping on a newly delivered CVO!!! I'd never go back to that place!!! >:( >:( >:( STD! STD! STD!!!

Howie, they're supposed to know that the plug wire from the right side of the coil goes to the rear cylinder to make the engine start too.  There is a reason some go to indies and some just work on their own.

I'd have to go back and look at my paperwork, but I remember there was a delivery checklist that my salesperson went over w/me covering the basic operation of the bike (things Howie describes above). This paper was signed by salesperson and myself and we both were given a record of it. Don't know if this was a dealer initiative or something required by the MoCo. Either way it was something nice to get an owner familiar with their new bike.

It's "required" by the MoCo that the bike get a local test run before delivery.  Doesn't mean it actually gets done though.

Signoff?  The girl in the title clerk's office had me do that with all the other crap she had.  By the time the bike was ready to go I had to open the tour pak just to make sure the keys were with it.  There was (I'm not making this up) some other poor schmuck picking up a new V-Rod at the same time.  His first Harley.  I showed him how to start it and which way was up or down on the shifter.  Spent fifteen minutes with the guy basically familiarizing him with his bike while service staff walked hither and there.

Then the chicken chit bastard with the V-Rod rode right past me when I ran out of gas on the way to the gas station.  He didn't ride by very fast.  But he did ride by.  Maybe I didn't show him where the brakes were :nixweiss: ?

I did take a test ride before we started going over the details. I purchased mine from a dealer in NC that was several hours away so I had an enclosed trailer to bring mine back home. Since this was my first touring (full dresser) it helped to go over all the switches and gizmo's so I'd know what the heck they were. I still came home and read the entire manual to familiarize myself of the operation of bike and accessories.

No test ride here! But they did go thru the entire bike with me and have me sign off on the delivery paperwork.
