ABOUT THE COMPANY
Vectrix was founded in 1996 with one objective — to provide clean, efficient, reliable and affordable inner-city transportation. And for a decade, leading engineers and designers worked to create a 100% electric vehicle that also had performance and style.

The result was the Vectrix, a zero-emission vehicle — no gas, no oil and no compromise. With a top speed of 62 MPH and acceleration of 0-50 in 6.8 seconds, Vectrix is highway legal. With aerodynamic styling, Vectrix has smooth handling and sleek lines.

In 2007, people in the U.S. and Europe taking delivery of Vectrix—people looking for style, performance and zero emissions, people who understood that the 100% electric vehicle could help reduce pollution, counter the rising price of gasoline, and avoid traffic and parking hassles.

Performance
  Max Speed:
 62 mph / 100 km/h
Acceleration: 0-31 mph (50 km/h) in 3.6 seconds 0-50 mph (80 km/h) in 6.8 seconds
 Range:
 68 miles (110 km) @ 25 mph (40 km/h)Simulated urban driving - 5 hours

So, if I got 25 mph (WTF???) I get 68 miles. My 11-mile route to the office is mostly on two-lane thoroughfare with a 45-50mph speed limit. Don't reckon I wanna be tangling with the cagers in rush hour if I'm gonna drive half their speed. Sounds like a risky proposition.

So, the question becomes: What is my range if I drive normal speeds? Can I make 11 miles to work and 11 miles home with a few miles at lunch hour to grab a bite to eat? or not?

Recharge Time: 2 hours (80% charge)

According to the website a full charge takes 3-5 hours. So, if I commute, I must plug it in every night... every night... for 3-5 hours if I want to have my full range the next day. Hmmmm...

Estimated Battery Life:  10 years or 50,000 miles / 80,000 km

I drive 5,000 miles a year to and from work. Let's say 7,500 to include lunches, side trips on the way to and from and other outings. That's just under 7 years for a battery. Wonder how much a new battery costs?

  Weight:  462 lbs (210 kg)

Holy Scooter Wheels, Batman! This things weighs more than most sport bikes! It's only 130 lbs under a Sporty! That's HEAVY for a scooter...

Retail Price:  $11,000, not including tax, registration, freight or delivery charges.

Same price as a Hyabusa. Wow! Gas-powered scooters can be bought for as little as $1K. You really gotta want to go green to buy this puppy.

Holy Crap! Look at the price!!! :o :nixweiss:

Hey RickC, with that fine stable you have, I don't think you would buy it for $1,000 if went 100 MPH.  For 11K you would think it would have some style.
