Tuning problems 2009 CVO springer
« on: January 10, 2009, 10:00:02 AM »

Dropped off my 2009 Springer at the dealer for more upgrades. Already have Hooker pipes and SERT. Ran great but wanted more. Had high compression pistons, 260 cams, 58mm throttle body, larger injectors, upgraded push rods/lifters, etc and 58MM heavy breather intake. The dealer has had the bike for over 2 weeks because they can't get it to run properly. They told me HD will not be releasing new "Programs" until the end of the month because my combination of parts are pretty new. The dealer does not want to dyno because of so few miles. Any comments or info on this situation?

I have a similar situation with a bike I am trying to tune.  Ended up being an intake leak and the 58mm TB is not lining up to the 110+ heads correctly.  An independent mechanic tore it apart and found the issue and the dealer and the MOCO are involved as this kit may have a problem.  My customers bike has now been down for a month( 2 weeks of course during the holidays)and there has been communication to all parites involved.  Not sure when I will get it back to finish the tune but waiting on a resolution from the MOCO.  This was really suprising to me as this is a standard SE catalog kit.

Thanks for the info. I forgot to mention that my tech was informed by HD that the throttle actuator was a brand new part in the 58mm TB. When it was disconnected, the bike would idle properly. they are looking into this new part on the TB that could be the culprit. The tech did say once the bike was over approximately over 3K RPM and the throttle was twisted "It nearly tore his head off". Wishful thinking.

So you let the dealer use an admittedly unfamiliar combination when they were also unwilling to tune and didn't have a download that was even half close to matching?

Thanks for your useful feedback and insight. The dealer is great(HD of Naples, FL) and working hard with HD to get it right.
