Sorry guys / gals,
I have not officially introduced myself and would like to - I'll make it brief.
Have always loved Harley's even before I truly understood the brand. Started off on a Honda Knighthawk (my older brothers) when I was about 12 or 13 years old. My brother just returned from a ride, I was outside gawking at his bike. He said do you want to ride, I said yes. His exact words to me were: Here's the clutch, here's the brakes, here's the gears - see you later. I got on the bike and road............ From that point, I often road either that brothers bike or one of my other brothers / cousins bike until my mid 20's.
The marriage, children, home, divorce, marriage again, more children, work, school and life consumed my days (I'm sure most have a similar story). During my second marriage, I took my honeymoon in Hawaii (several Islands) and while on the plane, I read about the introduction of the 2002 Harley V-Rod and I was taken back by it's uniqueness and had to have one (which I purchased and still have it; 2003 anniversary model - love it). But while on my honeymoon I rented a Road Glide and a Classic to take the wife around the Islands we traveled to (don't remember the years of the bikes and these were not rented by an authorised Harley dealer). The wind on the mountains was fierce and I had a problem maintaining the Classic but the Road Glide impressed me. I'm sure neither the Road Glide or the Classic was maintained to spec. but it was fun.
Nevertheless, while enjoying the V-Rod, I thought its time for a tourer. Purchased a 2008 Road Glide (in 2007) - Pewter Pearl and fell in love again. My older brother and I took our first cross country road trip in 2008 (4 weeks on the road) and travelled from Boston to LA, mainly on Route 50 (I'll write about this trip one day). Additionally, I learned about the deliverance of the first CVO Road Glide in 2000 and 2001 and thought if they ever come out with another CVO Road Glide, I have to really concider if I can get one and everything else is history.
I have a 2009 SERG in Silver and have somewhat taken delivery. The lowers I had the dealer install are about 1 1/2 shades lighter than the bottom of the factory paint on the bike and they have to be sent back. The dealer wants to keep the bike until the new lowers come in. The weather here in Boston is bad, can't ride and I want this bike to be 100% before I take full delivery.
Sorry for the long intro - I love reading this site and learning from those that provide input.
