New Gauges In SEUC
« on: January 14, 2009, 10:27:35 PM »

Has anybody installed Dakota Digital Gauges?  If so, are they easy to read than stock?  I have difficulty seeing my red gauges at night.

Check out this thread (in this category) for LED replacements for the stock bulbs.  Put them in mine and it made it much easier to se the gauges at night.

I have installed several, they are very easy to read. They also have a dimming feature at night so they are not as bright. In the daylight even with the sun on them they can be seen.

No problem seeing the red gauges at night, but distance vision has gone to hell.  Had LASIK in 2003.  20/15 in each eye.  Was 20/400.  I have to wear corrective lenses at night tho'.  Distant points of light have halos, and I cannot properly judge distance otherwise.....................explained to me as having something to do with the pupils enlarging to the point of exposing the operatory edge of the LASER ablation, which makes things appear fuzzy.  Vision is good during daylight hours tho'.  It's a tradeoff I can live with vs. how bad my vision used to be.

Some time ago there was a thread about upgrading the instrument lights to LED's.  You can get them in various colors and they are quite a bit brighter, but shouldn't interfere with your night vision.  Also you might want to consider getting a anti-reflective coating on your lenses as it cuts down the glare at night.  As you age your night vision is going to suffer, so join the crowd!

and a night pic

Now that's what I call a definative answer.  Thanks Trapperdog the pics say it all. No doubt they would solve my problem.  I received quite a few answers concerning night vision and they were all very much appreciated.

Now if we could only get some of the other upgrades like Suspension and engine mods to show in picture, that would be a clincher.

                                               Thanks again guys
