I built the motors in the garage, didn't think she would like engine lube on the floors. Those days are gone now after my injury, now I have a bunch of stuff I don't use.
When I was in the military, I had my own room in the barracks because of being an NCO (Non Commissioned Officer) for the non-mil types. I was in England. I had this big straight six in my car that blew a head gasket. I pulled the motor in the parking lot on the weekend, brought it in the room and tore it down. I got this big box and put over it when at work. Valentines was coming up so I wrote on the box DO NOT OPEN TILL VALENTINES DAY! The commander and first Sergeant would do the room inspections. They ask me about the garage smell and the box but what ever I told them appeased them. Other than the smell and box the room was spotless. Then there's the time with the wife when she came home and I was assembling cylinder heads on the dining room table, then the multiple carb rebuilds, and fuel pumps. I guess it's no wonder she stayed mad at me, but hey it worked, I have AC in the garage now, and a motorcycle lift etc.
We all do some crazy things in our lives!
