Do you have to bring your own pads or matresses with these?

I did the google thing too and got the sites. Looking for comments from people that actually use the things. Ain't many manufacturers gonna put on their site "We make a lousy trailer".

I'll tell ya what, some of the new high tech light weight sleeping pads, the type back packer use, are great! We had the old style K-Mart sleeping pads for a long time and beginning last summer we went to REI and splurged on a the best pads we could buy. These things are awesome, I highly recommend. They don't require much packing space on the bike, I believe they roll up into a 4" roll. We also went with a backbackers two man tent, it rolls up almost as small as the pads. OH, forgot the sleeping bags,, get the back pacers type, they roll up into nothing as well. Between both bikes, we have room to spare when loaded down for road camping trip.

I'm gettin' too old to sleep on the ground, too, but I can't see pulling a camper trailer behind the bike. That's just too much for me. I'll take a dive-ish hotel room over having to setup and break camp... every day.

Good luck with your search for info!

We (especially my wife) are too old to sleep on the ground.  We did the tent camping for a long long time.  My wife has had several back surgerys and a neck surgery... she gets a little grumpy if she sleeps on the ground now.

I looked around at tent trailers for a long time.  Only found a few that I really cared for.  Knowing how much we would actually use one, I really didn't want to pay the price they are asking for a new one ($4500 and up!).

I finally bought one of these used

It is pretty light (probably under 300 lbs loaded) and pulls pretty good.  It is probably one of the smallest and lowest profile of any of the motorcycle tent trailers - and then one of the biggest when set up (queen size bed area and a huge dressing area)  I think the thing I like most about it is that when it is set up, everything is up off the ground - pretty nice if it rains.

Drawbacks:  This trailer doesn't have as much cargo room when folded down.  It has some, but not as much as some of the other trailers.  It does have a nice rack on top so you can pack stuff on top, if need be - and the rack folds down if you don't need it.

One problem with all tent trailers (and tents) is climate control.  We actually have a small airconditioner for ours, but seldom use it because adds weight and takes up some of the storage room.  Pretty easy to carry small heaters and fans.

We only use our tent trailer about 3 or 4 times a year - and that is usually at rallies.  We have a 37ft fifth-wheel toy-hauler, but some of the rallies we attend don't have good places to park RVs or they want to charge way too much for RV parking (some as much as $50 per day).

If we are just out on a riding trip, we stay in motels.  We can pack lighter if we are staying in motels and it is pretty nice to have a climate controlled room with a nice hot shower.  And, you can pay for a lot of motel rooms for what some of the tent trailers will cost you.

Don't get me wrong, we enjoy our tent trailer... it's great for those situations when we need it.  And if I didn't have one now, I would probably be on the lookout for another good used one ;)

Yep, every time I set up a tent, I check for rocks, holes and stuff like that, but when I get into my bag, there's either a rock, bump in the ground or low spot!! :confused5: :nixweiss:

I did a lot of research on this, a few years back.  I'd suggest that you look at Time Out   http://timeouttrailers.org/campingtrailers.aspx

It has a number of features that make it stand out for me, but I'll go ahead and point out just a couple.  When you're camped and it starts pouring, you don't have to get up and make sure that everything is up off the floor.......this unit has a hard floor that is up off the ground.......sleep away!

I'm 6'4" and I could stand up and still have head room.  That comes in real handy when you're getting dressed or changing clothes.

The ice chest can be accessed via a window, while you're in bed!

There's also room to store cargo, when the trailer is all folded up.

A novelty.......there's a large US map on the table top.

**EDIT**  Didn't see the post two above when I clicked on reply.  Now this one looks kind of redundant.

A riding buddy of mine has the lee sure lite trailer as posted above and it is a nice little unit.
It really does set up in 7 seconds as the ad says --blew me away. http://www.leesurelite.com/settingupvideo.mpg
He swears by it and says he barely knows its behind him on his Ultra classic. No problem pulling it with the 96.
His has a pretty decent storage capacity.
Should be a good deal for you guys south of the border with the canadian dollar as lo as it is.

I tow a 2004 Bunkhouse camper trailer. Bought it used for a reasonable price and really enjoy it. I usually only take on trips where I'll be staying in one place for a few days at a time. Lots of room, lots of options for add on's like screen rooms or add a room, AC, etc., etc. Also considered an Aspen camper trailer, but found the used Bunkhouse first. Both of these have more storage area than the Lesurelite or Timeout trailers. All depends on what is important to you. Good luck!!!
