YES ,you are right about the chain , BUT, splain to me why some bikes get 60,000 miles and some get 10,000 miles , same chain, YES ? Quality of the shoes maybe ?

Got gears.   Can watch Gunsmoke and not worry about it :coolblue: .

Don you do know that it is recommended to replace you cam bearings and check alignment and lash every 30,000 miles with gears.....

And what happens after you have gears and your crank still goes out of spec :nixweiss:

At least you'll know right away, rather than have to wait for the crank to wipe out the oil pump. ;)

Same chain, NO?  Out of the two or three dozens that I've been able to see some are smooth, no edges and glassy slick on the rollers .... others, like I mentioned are terrible and actually uncomfortable to the touch.  I think the shoes are consistent the chains are not.

Yeap.  Still don't find a lot to worry about there.  It's also an immediate and absolute measure rather than a slow and insidious failure like cam shoes.

Just to set the record straight. There were 2 vendors for the chains, 1 vendor for the tensioners. One chain caused less wear on the tensioners. Don't knno why and really didn't ask why.

But it still has nothing to do with crank run out. The stock crank assemblies just plain suck!!!!!!

Brian-
Why didn't I read this before I sold my cam tools on Ebay?    :nixweiss:
In another 5,000 miles, I'll have 30K on the cams, gears, and inner bearings.
