We had a 20% night at my dealer last night, that and since it is an "urban blight" area means sales tax is 1/2 normal. Good deal.

Ordered SE lifters, push rods, and many more misc parts including the new SE plate, tensioner and pump kit.

Two nights ago I pulled the cams to check everything (in anticipation of the 20% night).

Crank run out is .002-.004. Every one says no gear drives (not quite everyone)  :nixweiss:

So I have all the stuff needed to do the replacement EXCEPT for cams!

What cams do I use now?

I called a Yuell Bros. yesterday and talked to Brad Y. They don't have now or in the works a chain drive version of the YB-13 cam.

This was my cam of choice after the success with LtBawb's bike last summer.
http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=25698.0;all

Brad also told me that I would fine with the .002-.004 run out and gear drives  :nixweiss:

The new hydraulic kit is ordered, and whatever else was not in stock.

So what cam now ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Cams to try:

HD 204
Andrews 55
Zippers 575

I would use the stock lifter myself over the SE lifter.

Andrews tech support recommended the 54. I don't have a SE book, what is the 204 equivalent too?

I think the Andrews 55 requires different springs, and I do not want to go into the heads right now. Have other things I am looking at as we discussed yesterday.

Why would you not use the SE lifters?

Pulled mine apart this weekend just to check. Wear on the shoe isn't more than the thickness of a business card. Have 43,000 Km(28,400 miles) on this shoe. Talked to my local dealer and he's saying this is exceptional compared to others. Put a new gasket on the housing cover, new exhaust gaskets and will ride her for another 30K before I check her again. Then will probably put the Zipper 575 cams in. Not sure if I'll go gear drive or use the HD hyd. upgrade kit with chain drive Zipper 575's.

While the wear in the show isn't that deep the missing chunks of shoe material are pretty obvious. These chunks tear up the oil pump. What kind of wear did you see in it?

Didn't go any further into it. Should I be concerned? Here's another picture. These are very tiny flakes.

Didn't take any more apart. From these readings, what's wore in the front shoe is equal to what's on the back shoe. Right?

Nope......seems that the inside one always wears more. Gotta check that one to really know what the situation is.  ;) spyder

Badass2,

What Spydglide and Mr. We are saying is right on the money, which was why I asked you originally what the back one looked like.   I wouldn't put it back together without checking the rear one as well.   Dental Mirror works pretty well if your not going to take the cam plate out.
