It is no secret that I am a music guru and Southern Rock is pumping in my blood. I'm sure most of you have seen the pictures Lil-Bit and I have with our friends of .38 Special, the brother band of Skynyrd. Tears have been shed this week and 15 months ago when Hughie passed. I hate this part of getting old! Billy was one heck of a guy! Smiling all the time. I was lucky enough to see the band 2 weeks before that plane crash that changed my world. Then we enjoyed that whole band with the survivors and other music legions, Hughie from the Outlaws, Ricky from Blackfoot, Mike from Damn Yankees, what a lineup! Only 3 surviving members left! The widow of Ronnie said the name could continue as long as 3 members were there, then Leon passed in the night! Sad day for us that enjoyed what the Mad Hatter shared on stage. Ronnie's wife said ok to continue, the band was doing great with younger brother Johnnie on vocals. Now with the passing of Billy what will happen? Only Gary Rossington is an original member, thou Ricky Metlock did play with Skynyrd before leaving to form Blackfoot ( The first Skynyrd album was dedicated to his grandfather Shorty ). I would love to see this great bunch continue making great music and make their brothers proud. Sad time for me for sure, Dave
