Sigh......now I gots to go find Jeff's build......and see and read photos and discussion......now where is that "THREAD" at.....hmmmmmm    :nixweiss:

Where it belongs.  Under the greater heading of "social", subheading of "other topics". :nixweiss:

Some filing system I've never heard of, I guess.

I read a sign on a billboard in St. Louis yesterday, "Green, the New Pink."  No other explanation.  Didn't make any sense to me.  But maybe it's the same thing with this?  Social/Other, the new FXR?  I got nothin' :nixweiss: ?  Thank god for the "search" tool.

Sun Tzu had a habit of stating the obvious and making it sound profound.  Lessons there for sure though.  Certainly can't dismiss the little bastard.  He's on the shelf here at my left hand.  Next to Frederick the Great, Xenophon, Mahan, Clausewitz and a few others.  Lessons there as they speak to you.  Long dead and they still respond.  Can ask them a question and be informed as quickly as grabbing the binding and turning the page.

I remember all the required reading.........the first two mentioned here were primary.  Had a Battalion Commander during my last tour in the ROK who required us to read "We were Soldiers Once, and Young."
Though they've been there as long as I can remember in some form/fashion or another, toward the end of my career there were many, many, many, many, many updates and changes to Army Field Manuals (FMs).  Seems passages from some of these works became more apparent and frequent with the new editions and completely rewritten manuals.
BTW, just noticed your avatar, Sean.  I think it is neat how titles differentiate between the Services.  In the Army, every rank is abbreviated to three uppercase characters.  And though there is no written guidance, per se, on the use of or directed use of indicators of impending promotion, it was customary to use the three letter abbreviation of one's current rank followed by the letter "P" in parentheses to indicate "Promotable."  For instance, in the Army, a Major selected for promotion to Lieutenant Colonel might list his rank as "MAJ(P) Cary."
Now........all that funky stuff they speak and write in the Navy is a complete mystery to me...........everything is an acronym.   :huepfenlol2:

What was really funny was the rank thing when I was a Captain at CENTCOM and some yutz listed me as CAPT in the global - never did correct em when they called thinking I was a Navy Captain.

Actually in the Misguided Childrens Club, I am still just "Major" the Select thing is a joke for us...which has been pointed out to me several times by the LtCol's in my section since the message came out...

Also every deviation from the norm is associated to my selection, including a note on my white board that say "We sure are out a lot since we became a LtCol (sel)"...love just doesn't stop flowing.

BWHAHAHAHAHAAH!!!!! Yeah yeah yeah.....I did not get everything that I wanted to get done accomplished this weekend. Family in from out of town kinda screwed up my game plan. I did get some trans oil all over my lift and floor if that counts. not some...lots. Took the clutch cable cover off...not sure of the real name and bloop bloop bloop...anyway lesson learned and I drained the rest on the primary side so it's all good now. Maybe tonight I'll hit it some more.
