Did anyone see the show last night? Maybe it was a repeat, but I hadn't seen it before. I have to wonder what Billy Joel thinks if he watched the show. There is never any mention of what OCC gets paid to build these bikes, but I think we're in the 60-70k range for something likewhat they built BJ Hard to believe the crappy attitude toward delivering the customer what he wants. Jr's attitude was like he was insulted that BJ didn't want to accept what they wanted to give him which was a piece of crap on the first try. 2nd try wasn't worth more than 25k in my book either. And the bullchit over the mismatched powder coat. Man, the chit should have gone back to the powder coater the minute they unwrapped it. I thought they use Sumax. Sumax has always done good work. They must have found a cheaper shop. Maybe I'm whining here, but you know, it doesn't seem right the sucess these guys have had. I don't begrudge the vast majority of custom builders their sucess. Me I think it's a show. We get to see the edited parts it's entertainment to me. A couple of years ago they were at Lake George signing autographs selling T-shirts,photos etc. There was a very long line of people . I noticed a lot of people in the line were kids with mom and dad. I thought gee it's nice motorcycle riding is getting a bit more mainstream. Now if gas keeps going up in price maybe everyone will be on a bike.

One more thing to watch if you noticed it.In the early days of OCC they used Nub of Nub Graphix then Sr. and Nub went at each other and he was gone. Then they get the new kid,the dirt bike riding youngin I think his name was Jason or something. He painted the POW bike and quite a few in the middle years of the show. Then all the sudden Nub is back and Jason is gone.It seems they go through guys like I go through Big Mac's.They're probably a$$holes to work with and every sub gets fed up and leaves them.Just my .02   Later,Q

It's an odd group and I really think there are other builders out there that are producing nicer bikes but the "Chemestry Made for TV" antics of that show's characters has created a group of "TV Actors" who fake putting bikes toghether...

I really liked them in the very, very early start - now screw'em...  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

I find myself hating these idiots and yet with nothing else on TV other than Deal or No Deal etc I will flip to the Discovery Channel and watch. Sick addiction to anything motorcycle related. But, since we tend to keep score in dollars, these guys figure they are winning and their arrogance grows with their bank accounts. The real point here is as someone pointed out, that they are not marketing themselves to the hardcore enthisiasts like those on this site. They are mainstream and selling their non motorcycle products to folks who don't and never will own a motorcycle. The only bikes of theirs I have ever seen are their so called "Theme" Bikes. What are their production bikes like. Same crappy quality cheap chit junk ?

the onscreen antics make for entertainment, and i enjoy seeing the potential of all that manufacturing equipment they have theese days, i have even taken some mental pictures of some of what they have done as "idears" of what i would like to do when i finally get around to building my own someday. but i also look at what they use for parts and say what were they thinking. for instance the billy joel bike price tag = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and they use a 2 piece inner primary plate for a couple hundered bucks more they could have used a single piece  [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Well if there's one good thing though, I know when I run into any of you guys from this site I won't see anyone wearing an OCC shirt.

My wife had an OCC jean jacket last year. She traded it in for a Sreaming Eagle Jacket [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Since the "biker craze" started by Discovery Channel we get to see alot of other builders who are damn good.Like Indian Larry was and Lane and Hank Young, the Martin Bros,Matt Hotch and so many more.So if it took some yahoos from Orange Crappy Choppers to bring the good ones the noteriety they deserved then thank them for that and that only. The Discovery Channel is doing to choppers as Malcolm Forbes did for the MOCO.My .02

Nope....much worse than that.  Rode an '06 "OCC production" bike that a guy was trying to trade me for an FX Springer.  After riding it, I offered $6500 for the OCC and was concerned that he might take the deal....I think "salvage" might be a better word than junk as it had a decent set of handlebars..... I read a while back that the feds (epa) would cause some problems with the custom bike building scene ( I forgot what the year). But the rules read something like I will only be able to build one custom in my life. And shops could only do like 20 bikes a year. Some people were planning to sell the bikes as kits and assemble the for a fee . I think all this stuff I can't remember, was posted on this site a while back. If epa steps in where does that leave these small quantity manufacturers like OCC? I noticed the last builds I seen them do for their give-away bikes they used  Harley motors . Maybe they were building those bikes on a budget.
