Thanks Twolane,
I didn't mean that anyone had deleted them, I remember the 'Hacker' incident. [smiley=nervous.gif]

I tried to repost them, but I must not be doing something right....they would attach. [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Thanks again. This is a GREAT site, with 'TONS' of information, from folks that have
'Been there, Done that'....I hope to meet some of you folks one day, at one of the Gatherings. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Willie, make sure not to "preview" your post if you've got pictures attached.  Doing the preview will lose the attachments.  It won't tell you or warn you, it'll just kill them.

i think S & S  makes the gears themselves but you can use any gear drive cam. you have to use a gear drive cams because they counterotate. i also think that ANDREWS makes not only their cams but they manufacture most of the other cams sold under different names. any news on a 103 seeg cam?

Newbee on the site, but many hard miles otherwise so I thought I'd throw in my two cents here. On my 2001FLTRSEI, the cam tensioners were worn beyond limits at 15K and two jockeys I ride with have had them come apart at betwen 16K and 19K, these were on 2002 SERK's. In discussions with 3 different service mgrs, they basically confirm that there 'seems to be a materials problem' in the stock cam followers, but have no answers as to why they haven't been improved and of course $'s are the reason they aren't considered as a 'time change' item. I plan on having them at least inspected and probably replaced at 15K on my '03 SERK to be safe. Changing to gear driven voids any warranty on these items according to the service guys.

Well tore into the cam cover to lok at the shoes when I got back from Reno and Brad's little talk.  With right at 33,500 mile I you can just see where the chain is wearing into the shoe if I had to estimate I'd say about 1/8 of the way thru the shoe.  Put it back together and will ride it hard (with no worries) till the new bike arrive and will deal with it while upgrading the motor.

Hey Mr_Magoo, that's what I've been hearing on the mileage for the cam shoe........if you had to estimate maximum mileage before having to replace according to what you saw, what would it be?   I've got  about the same mileage on mine as you have on yours, but haven't looked at the shoes yet.  Was wanting to wait to look and change at the same time.  Whatcha think?    [smiley=nixweiss.gif]  spyder

Hey SpyG,
As I have indicated on a earlier post, mine were replaced at 52k, and the inner shoe was totally worn out. NO damage to the oil pump, and it is still running fine at 64,650. I used the S&S adj. PR so as not to have to remove the heads etc. I figured that at this point it is much easier to replace the tensioners than to install gear drive$. One note, you can't see the inner shoe, and this is the one that wears out first. I can't find the pics that I took, so I can't repost them, sorry  [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Is this considered a wear item (not warrantied) by MOCO, does anyone know? I know the primary chain shoe is not covered. :-X

O'fender, several have written previously in different threads here of cam shoe failure being handled as a warranty issue.  I don't remember reading of anyone complaining about not getting the replaced under warranty when they otherwise expected to.

The fact that my buddy had to have his cam chain shoes & a bearing ( don't know which one ) Replaced durring the York open house had me hearing all sorts of noises on the ride home so I decided to take my oil filter appart. ( not the most easy job I've tried !) Showed small particles of plastic trapped in the filter. Going to see what the stealership has to offer when it goes in for it's latest & final dose of replacement chrome.Hate to miss any decent days so am waiting till just before the warenty expires end of Nov.
