Outrage brewing over proposed 1,900% beer tax hike in Oregon-
Four Portland legislators joined a Springfield senator to introduce  Oregon House Bill 2461, which would impose a $49.61 tax on each barrel of beer produced by Oregon brewers.

This is tough.  Seems it's hard to channel B B.  I know it would start "Well Don" and "Don" would drawn out like only a Mainer can do it.  Then whatever it is would be bright, funny or thoughtful.  Probably all three.  Ok, dammit Q, you just reminded me how much I miss reading the man's thoughts.

Me too  :'(

It really hurts a lot to not have my friend, (well our friend), not here with us.  In fact, it makes it hard to come here at all.

Brian would tell me things that are not allowed here, so maybe I will just give my friend a call.

Yes indeed.

I would ask him: "Mi amigo Brian, let's ride again from Maggie Valley to Daytona"

He would answer: "No mi amigo, I don't want to get a traffic ticket and I want to eat.....vaya con Dios"

Missing him............!!

True, but it's also up to everyone who hits the "Report to moderator" because they get offended.  There are perfectly acceptable threads on here that offend me.  I won't say which ones, becuase it just doesn't matter.  Since they offend me, I don't read them.  If I read another thread that brings up a topic that goes awry and ends up offending me, I ignore it.  After all, I'm an adult and perfectly capable of letting bygones be bygones and just letting it go.

Of course some blame the mods, but it's a thankless job.  And when constantly being bombarded with complaints you end up thanklessly trying to keep the peace.  And then you get insulted for it.  Sometimes you make mistakes and take things wrong and it all starts going way to far.  As stated, it's not our playground, we're just allowed to slide on the board.  So I will not argue with any decision the mods have made.  Even the ones I don't agree with.  But I wonder if everytime someone got offended they hadn't hit the "Report to Moderator" button, would the mods need to reign in what's going on?  I don't know.  I just wonder.

I miss B.B.  And he probably was the one who most frequently made me want to say "Dude, relax.  There are other view points."  But hey, I'm a big boy.  I'd ignore the ones that I thought we're unreasonable.  Point out a differing view point occasionally.  Let him tell me I'm an idiot for my alternate view point.  But one thing that get's overlooked.... Had I chosen to, I could have called him an idiot right back.  I just don't choose to play that way.  I miss B.B. and I think he made a mistake in walking away.  I may get kicked off, and if I ever do I will leave quitely, but I will never leave because of the actions of the few.

I remember learning an intersting piece of history.  The term "Yankee" was used derogatoraly by the british to describe New Englanders.  They responded by taking pride in the term and writing one of the most sung patriotic children's songs.

So me... I'll stick a feather in my hat and ignore that which ofends me, participate in that which interests me, and not use "Report to Moderators" to go be a tattle tale.  Neal and his band of merry men have enough to worry about without us making them create and enforce rules that make people feel stifled.

So... Sorry if I offended you.  Feel free to call me names.  I prefer to be called an A-hole, but if you'd like to pick a different one I'll gladly wear it with pride.  The attached pic is a patch from my biker vest. I've blurred it just a bit so it doesn't gett deleted.  If you could please provide me with a patch to go with whatever name you call me I'll gladly add it!  Thanks for your support.

Ride Safe,
JC Carroll (J-Carr)

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

J-Carr

Nothing offensive in your post to me.
You just said the same thing I did but in a different way.
In fact,,,,,

I miss B.B. and I think he made a mistake in walking away.

We agree!

But as I said in my post,

You J-Carr or I, as much as we want him back, cannot make him come back.
He has to do that on his own.
Coming back will be his decision, not ours!
I just wish he would hurry up!

Unfortunately, I don't think he is... And we're poorer for his decision.  But he's not the only one we've lost.  He was just the most obvious about it...

That's all true Chip.  Some have suggested he made a mistake too.  That's a personal analysis for the Big Man to make us not us to judge.  Would suggest he has made a "first step" though.  It's just that it was away from this particular venue rather than toward it.  The necessity of that is also his analysis to make.

Like the rest of us I'm saddened at the misfortune and loss that comes from not having his insights as part of the daily experience.  The man is wisened from an experience not shared by many, still caring, humble but still with strong ideas of right and wrong.  If a man such as that senses a wrong he'll walk away.  Perhaps not as it should be.  But as it must be.
