Our condolances to you and your family.  We're not far away and shared a common interest.  I wish I had the chance to know him.

Best Regards,

Marianne,

Your note brought emotion to an almost emotionless guy (per my wife). I feel saddened and strength at the same time reading this. Saddened for your loss and I have gained strength from your resolve in posting on the forum Roger loved so much. We all have passions but very few get to enjoy them like Roger has.

I wish you all the wellness, joy and love to the highest level you can bare.

I want to thank everyone who posted their kind thoughts and condolences on this website with regard to Roger's passing.  He had MANY friends, as was evidenced by the 550 people who came to the funeral home for his services.  We had a procession of over 50 motorcycles that escorted him home for the last time.  What a sight!  In lieu of flowers, I had asked for donations to a local non-profit charity - the Holly Heilman Cancer Fund.  We rode in their poker runs over the last few years to raise money for them, and were also the recipients of gift cards from the Fund when we found out about Roger's cancer last year.  Just recently, I was updated on the total of donations made to this Fund in Roger's name - $4,350 so far.  That's amazing ...
For many years, I was content to ride behind Roger on his bikes.  I don't want to miss out on the wonderful times that we had with our local HOG chapter, so I've gotten a motorcycle permit (yep, at 51 years old) and will be taking the PA Rider's Course in 2 weeks.  Wish me luck!

Marianne,

Good Luck. And I can't think of a better way to honour Roger then to do what you are
planning to do. Ride on girl.

Over the years, unfortunately, we have had our fellow riders loose the loved ones that brought them to the riding gatherings with friends.  Some have found their niche to stay involved, on or off a bike.  Many have moved on with their lives with no bikes in it, some have found partners left behind in the group to buddy up with, and a few have taken on the prospect of riding their own.  For one who has been left in the bike riding community, may I commend you for taking on this giant leap of faith.  Good Luck,? Most assuredly!

May you feel the smile of your Roger on you for all your rides.
I just know it will be there with you.

Update ... this is Marianne, Roger's wife.  Last post, I let everyone know that I had gotten a motorcycle permit.  Well, took the PA Basic Rider's class and passed!  I now have a motorcycle license.  Roger is probably up there laughing his a$$ off.  Going to start out on a small non-Harley (sorry ...).  Once I get comfortable with riding, I'll upgrade to a Harley.  Roger's two CVOs are way to much for me, so I sold the '09 to the local dealership where we bought it and sold the '05 to Roger's best buddy Chuck.  I know Roger would be pleased about that.
Ride safe everyone,
Marianne
