Why because I did not upgrade the rotor. I only upgraded the Stator and it made  a big difference in charging rate. Next time in I'll upgrade to 45 amp rotor.

OEM Dave. Then after I ordered it and paid for it Don posted a link to an eBay auction that was about 1/3 the price.

So I measured the spacer tonight, .010" That is 1/2 of what it should be  :(

Installing a 45 amp rotor requires special tools.

Pulling the old rotor off can be done with a pair of Allen wrenches jammed in the holes and just pulling.

The magnets are very strong in the 45 amp version and if you don't use tools you can hurt yourself. Don mentions this somewhere here on the site.

I didn't have the correct HD or Jim's tool so I made do with a standard steering wheel puller.

Just take your time and wiggle the rotor a bit as you go and do your best to keep it straight and you'll be good to go.

Well, I don't have any teeth left in my rotor, in fact, no spacer to be found.

Another interesting fact, take a look at the inner primary and see if you can see what is wrong.

I found where some of the teeth went from the rotor.

Recently put a 45 amp rotor on the 05 SEEG after finding it had a bit of wear also.  Fortunately caught it after only minor wear. Still needed replacing though.

For anyone considering the high amp rotor you might consider an eBay seller that works under the name speedealercustoms .  It's a guy that sales parts on eBay from an aftermarket called Accumax.  They make quite a few automotive electrical units including some Harley bits.  Rather than the $265 that Harley charges for its 45 amp rotor and a primary gasket he sells the rotor for $90.  He's also inexpensive for chrome (or other finish) starters.  Have used their parts for quite some time and have found them to be quite reliable.

Yep   :2vrolijk_21:   That is where I got the new rotor and stator a while back.  Actually traded a couple messages with Don about doing the upgrade and finally thought I'd get it in.  My problem is just about everything else needs to be replaced now.  The good news is that the clutch plates are still good!   :2vrolijk_21:

Sorry to read of the other damage Brad.  So long as the crank is still undamaged at least it's all bolt-off/bolt-on repairs.  I'm even more lucky with that particular eBay seller.  The parts he handles really are good stuff, the prices really are very good and he lives west of me and works easy of me.  So he delivered on his way home :2vrolijk_21: !

Yes crank shaft  :(  Found a mom and pop garage that was open late. They had a welder sitting in the corner and I fired it up and tack welded the nut on. I later found out my spacing was off and the nut would bottom out before tightening the pulley and rotor. Expensive lesson learned.
