Is 2 into 1 worth it?
« on: March 07, 2009, 07:40:49 PM »

Hello all,
I am awaiting the arrival of my springer in may. I am trying to lock on the exhaust i want. From all i read, 2 into 1 is better as far as performance. Thats ultimately what i am after. I do like the look of the 2 into 2 alot better. Is the performance difference that great that i should get a exhaust that i like but not as much as others to gain a little power? Just want to know what others think..... thanks

evenson82, others and myself like the 2into1. but it's still a personal chose. find some people you trust and talk it
over so you will be happy with what ever you decide.   axil

I had true duals on my last bike, and I just added the 2-1 D&D Fat Cats to this bike.  I like the look of duals, so I am adding the ghost pipe to mine, but then I have the SE Ultra.  On the Springer, I think it would look fine with either, but you will get the better performance out of a 2-1.  I figured this time around, if I'm going to put all this money into an exhaust system, I wanted some extra performance, instead of just spending the money for the looks only.  I like the look of the 2-1 on the right side of the bike better than any other pipes I've seen.  I don't like not having a muffler on the left side, so I'm adding the ghost muffler and having the best of both worlds.

What he said - most succinctly

I've done both to various bikes, and the 2 into i gave much better torque at low and mid range.

have traul through the vo springer section, there r lots of pics dotted around of almost every exhaust available.

i would also choose a 2-1 system for add mid-range power if it wasnt for the strict swiss regulations.

THE SPRINGER IS ALL ABOUT STYLE, I WOULD GO WITH WHAT YOU LIKE LOOKS WISE ON SUCH A GOOD LOOKING BIKE. I PERSONALLY DONT CARE FOR THE LOOKS OF THUNDERHEADER TYPE PIPES ON THE MORE SPORTY MODELS -( SOFTAILS & DYNAS ). ON A BASICLY STOCK BIKE, AS IN NO HEAD OR CAM WORK, IN THE SADDLE FELL NOT NEAR AS STRONG AS VISUAL APPEAL! JUST MY OPINION. IM A FXDSE WITH V&H BIG RADIUS RIDER. LOVE THE LOOK AND SOUND!!!THIS BIKE HAS OUTRUN MORE THAN A FEW SPORT BIKES AT THE LIGHT. YOU SEE THAT FRONT WHEEL OF THEIRS COME UP AND YOU PULL AWAY UP TO ABOUT 80 TO 100 MPH. THATS NOT BAD PERFORMANCE!!!

The only sportbikes my harley will run with, is the 500cc and under class. The 600 and up sportbikes blow by me like I'm sitting still.

2-2 pipes will work well with good slip ons. 2-1 will work better for midrange ----where you ride. they will also offer great low end and less vibration.

ick up my bike tomorrow.  I had VH big shot staggered with quiet baffles.  I picked those for the look.  Harleys are not fast...period.  They sound fast, but they are not.  It would take me $10,000 to make my Dyna close to what my other bikes make in power.  Get what looks good.  If you want power get a Japanese sport or Sport touring bike.  You dont need to do anything to them to scare yourself to death!  I have a CVO Dyna, Yamaha FJR, and a Suzuki Bandit 1200S.

I'm with maddog110 the V&H Big Radius are the best looking pipes for the softtail and dyna's, I'm thinking about putting them on my SERK. V&H also makes the Big Radius in a 2 into 1, One of my buddies puy them on his Dyna, it looks and sounds great and it helped his bike as far as performance as well. Its quick low to mid range.

I thinks so
Super trapp 2 into 1, air and PC3 = 92 hp 107 tq compared with standard an amazing change.
Now with SE260 cam and 10:5:1 pistons im as happy as a dog with two tails, nothing more will be done.

quite a statement there. SOME harleys are not fast. MOST hondas are not fast! see how that sounds? blanket statements and twisted words.
