2005-2006 Recall
« on: October 10, 2005, 11:01:43 AM »

Just talked to the MoCo at the listed number, recall notices are going out today, dealers should already be aware of the issue (yeah right).

Our stock front brake line is different than the stock front brake line for the production (line) bikes.  The SEEGs and Ultras have that chrome cover that the stock bikes don't.  Because of that cover we've got a different brake line.

If you buy one of those covers (or at least it used to be this way) for a touring bike the instructions with it told you had to change brake lines.  The stock line was plumbed in such a way that the hard lines at the manifold didn't clear the cover.

I understand that custom built thing, I was thinking about the Fat Boys and other SE models.

They use a different front brake line.  Not the same part; don't have the same problem.

The research site listed indicates that this impacts bikes built between 6/1/2005 and 7/8/2005.  Since I picked mine up on 5/13 no problem here.   [smiley=banana.gif] JP

The recall only affects the bikes with the special braided lines used on the SE Ultra and the SEEG2.  It seems that the braze joint at one of the fittings could have a pin hole (not good).

Thanks for the info.  Explains why my bike shipment has been delayed a few weeks. Still waiting!

<<Glad to see ya found your way over here.>>

Thanks-  Not sure if I will wait for the S/E or just get a '06 Ultra and upgrade to 95", etc....
Wouldprobably save about 6 or 7K by doing so.  We'll see.

I stopped by my HD service department last week and asked if my 05 SEEG was affected by this recall.  They looked up my VIN # on their system and stated there were NO recalls listed on my bike.  What gives?  Are not all the 05 SEEG affected by this recall?
