By now, those of us that have ordered and installed the tour pak on the regular tour pak rack have found them to be a pain in the azz, (I thought things were supposed to get better, not worse) the lateral tolerance on the 09 hardware is so tight one can bearly get them to fit.  Then they added the wimpy hoz. rings that brake if not careful. If the front forks are in and the back clamps are closed the tout pak aint going no where, why the tight tolerances HD???!!!! 

NOW wait until you try to install the solo rack, YOU CAN NOT INSTALL IN THE FRONT DOCKING POINTS WITHOUT GOUGHING THE PAINT on FENDER DIVIDER. Installed the leading edge is only about 1/16 of an inch from fender so when you have to tilt it in the leading edge digs into the metal & paint.  Be warned The only solution is to place at least two layers of clear vinyl ahead of the leading edge of the rack.  There may not be a problem with reg. RGs, but CVO's with fender spacers, big problem, the HD desginers did NOT allow for the extra space required, use the vinyl, or take off the paint the choice is yours.

solo installed, I've found any trip less than 5 days don't need the T bag. 
Again use the vinyl ahead of the rack leading edge or take the paint off.

I ground down the sharp edge on my solo rack, where it nearly touches the painted fender divider, before attaching the tour pak.  I know it will still be a very tight tolerance, especially when trying to balance the t/p while leaning over the rear fender and trying to center the docking hardware. 

What were they thinking!

FYI, met with my dealer yesterday,  they are documenting this problem & sending to HD engineering, in addition we now believe this will also be a problem with the standard RGs,  if a mod. is done to the rack, keep your eyes open as I believe we should be able to exchange at no cost.

I loved riding my FLTRSE3 with the pack in the solo position.   Changes the whole feel of the .  much more nimble!

Moved this out to the General Topic board since the fender/mounting is not specific to the SERG but also the same fender/mount on the SESG.

I've had my solo position tour pack on and off so many times I can't even count.....and it's on right now.  Guess I'll have to take a closer look when I get home.

I loved riding my FLTRSE3 with the pack in the solo position.   Changes the whole feel of the .  much more nimble!

The 53260-09 solo tour pack rack was redesigned in April or May of 09. My original one was replaced with the updated part number, and the painted piece it scratch was also replaced. 

The new solo tour pack rack is still very snug, but a good 1/4 more clearance on the sides than the old one.  I cover everything with a micro fiber cloth before I put it on or take it off.  Used it three years on the 09, its at the powder coaters now getting ready to be put in use on the 12 CVO road glide

Got this scratch from my solo tour pak rack over the summer.  Tough putting the king tour pak on and not really being able to see the mounting line up.  Not sure if this is related to your clearance issue but my heart sank when I heard the paint grinding away.  Winter project for light sanding and touch up paint.
