What's the most embarrassing thing you've done on a bike
« on: March 23, 2009, 03:46:13 PM »

Okay Guys, here's the chance to get a few things off your chest.  What's the most embarrassing thing you've done or someone you know has done on a bike that still makes you cringe.  I've got a few.

First one:  In Liverpool where I was born, I was driving along a road known locally as the Ford road ('cos the Ford factory was on it!).  Anyway, I was on a H%*da CB750K2 (this was 1975) and I saw a smaller bike in front of me.  So I thought: "I'll show him how cool I am" and decided to go past him flat out (about 120) and shut off as I go past him just so he could see what a real man I was and how powerful my bike was compared to his.

Honda CB750's were not renowned for their high speed stability. Protective clothing was in its infancy and I was in a cheap helmt, jeans and a levi jacket.

Anyway, as the CB750 hit 115, it went into an almighty tankslapper - I was literally all over the road - I nearly chit myself and thought I was off.

By the time I was back in control, I was doing about 60 and this guy went past on a small two stroke looking at me like I was a dick (which I was).

Do I get absolution?

When I drive down that road today, I still shudder. :-[

In 1977 I had a fxe low rider. I was at a company picnic at blackberry farm. i  figured after the bbq I,d run the bases at the ball field next to where a 100 or more of us had just finished lunch. I over shot 2nd base went into left  and planted the bike and myself in 6 inches of wet sod. ---AK

At the european rally in st tropez a few years ago a friend of mine decided he would liven things up a bit while the crowd was patiently waiting for a band to start on main stage on the saturday evening. He stripped off all his clothes except for his riding socks and decided to do a cruise around the main drag. We had rented a chalet looking direct at the side of mainstage, as he rode past us we all egged him on BURN OUT BURN OUT. So he revved up his old fxr all was going well until the motor died and wouldnt restart. Naked as he was infront of the large crowd the crowd was luvin it! We were laughin our a$$e$ off, and eventually helped him to push his bike away.
He will never liv that down!

Back when I had my Wing, my 10 y.o. daughter and I had just finished having breakfast at a small resturaunt in Ferndale Wa. As we were getting ready to leave, I noticed a bunch of HD riders 1/2 block away just getting off their bikes. As I pulled out of the parking spot on the side of the road, attempting to just do a U-turn and head the other way, I got to the middle of the road at slow speed and hit the lip between the two sides of the road and the bike rolled right over. Somehow my leg ended up UNDER the bike, pinning me to the ground, with my daughter still sitting on the bike. Nothing like 1100 pounds resting on a single spot on your leg!

Somehow my leg didn't break, but it did tear a hole through my riding pants, the jeans under them, and took a nasty chunk out of my leg.

I was in the process of trying to push the bike up with my free leg when a couple of them nice HD folk came over and helped me pick the bike up. I am sure they got a great laugh out of the experience!  :'( :huepfenlol2:

Summer of 1992, just bought a brand new Yamaha 600 Enduro on Friday and Saturday went to an all day/night kegger in a park.  With hundreds of people standing there, I tried to manuever slowly through the crowd next to the pavilion and I stalled and dropped the bike in the middle of the crowd.  One of the girls, whom I met there that morning helping set everything up, made me park the bike and sit with her.  She would not let me leave, as she thought I was too drunk to ride.  I finally sneaked away and went home, and came back in my car, as I had planned.

Monday morning rolls around, and I worked as a claims adjuster at the time.  My first claim that I received had a name on it that looked very familiar.  I called and spoke to this person, found out exactly where the accident happened, which was in the park where the party was.  I was certain that this was the same girl that was so worried about me riding drunk.  When I asked her if she knew who I was, she had no idea.  When I told her, she explained that I was the one person that she did not want to find out about this accident and that she was pretty embarrassed after lecturing me.  She hit a tree head on and an empty keg from the backseat hit her in the head on the way through the windshield, knocking her out.  Anyway, the car was a total loss and she became a BSR with me for a time period.

So I had an embarrassing moment that was topped by her.

didn't happen to me but i was a witness to it.
i'm sittin on a bench on main st. in deadwood SD during the rally people watching. main is wall to wall bikes packed in so tight it's pathetic.
right in front of me at the curb there's a spot that was obviously too narrow to park a sportster in, let alone the bagger that was trying to back into it.
the guys trying to back it in with his ole lady still on the back seat and she's woo hooing and yelling and having a big ole time.
he gets about half way in and she stands up on the boards and over they go into another bike. she falls over the bike the bagger fell onto and lands on a second bike, knocking into a third bike.
about this time me and my partner are just about rolling on the sidewalk laughing our arses off.
after we regained our composure we helped untangle the mess and get every thing back upright and i tell my buddy that we really didn't want to be there when the owners of the two bikes that got dumped came back.
the bagger driver left notes on the bikes he knocked over and gave his ole lady the tounge thrashing of her life and rode off around the corner.
i still can't think of that day without laughing.

At least the guy had the decency to leave notes. Still, probably a good thing he left.

Back in my younger days, I was riding a CB750 with 4 into 1 Kerker headers. I had her all cleaned up and was coming down through town when I noticed a bunch of people at the water park. I turned into the park, jumped on the throttle and then backed it off to make the pipes crack. Right then, my front tire hit a set of angled railroad tracks and the bike went right out from under me. Of course, just about everyone watched me do this and then the rest of them turned around to see me trying to lift the bike off of me. I got it back up on two wheels as fast as I could and rode away quick so I could "show them" I wasn't shaken up. My embarassment made me feel like I was about an inch tall !

I did the same thing in my situation... lol

My leg hurt like hell, but I wasn't going to further my embarrasment by licking my wounds in front of the crowd, so I manned up, threw my leg over the bike and rode 10 miles down the road, feeling the blood running down my leg into my boot, before I stopped at a gas station and checked it out.
