From Skyline Drive, western Va. Note, it's very often hazy in the Blue Ridge and Smokey Mtns.

The ferry across Lake Champlain was kinda neat between Vermont and New York. They serve breakfast.

Provencetown, on the tip of Cape Cod, has some "interesting wild life." On the whole though, the natives really don't want tourists and it's on my not to return to list.

I know this is a little off topic, but I too was in the Marines 1975 - 1978 (not quite early 70's, but thought I would ask). Last unit I was with was 2/2 @ Camp Lejuene where I was the NCOIC of TACP (Tactical Air Control Party). Perhaps we have spoken to each other before?

I don't have a pic but this might be helpful. I have these guides sitting in a saddlebag and have found them useful especially when trying to figure out what roads to take.  http://www.motohawk.com/info.htm

From the site:

If you're headed for the curves and twists of the Southern Appalachians, from Georgia to Northern Virginia, check out the Motorcycle Adventures series of guidebooks to help you answer the question, "Where are you going?"
