Jim (Biss that is), now is the perfect opportunity for you to give us a plug for your product. Tell me how the Bomm works. How does it integrate.  Is it bidirectional? If I'm on a call and the GPS gives me directions, what happens? You say it will work with products other than the GPS, like what else? Maybe there's a way for me to spend more money  :huepfenlol2:. I've read your webpage but put it into words here.

Too many Jim Biss’s here. I’m starting to confuse myself. …LOL

You asked for it here it is:

The Bomm basically takes advantage of the Harley’s somewhat unique microphone circuit. Unique when you compare it to the microphone circuit on say a Yamaha Venture or Wing.

The Bomm works in conjunction with a GPS that has Bluetooth capabilities, such as the Garmin Zumo 550 or the new 660. It directs the audio from your helmet microphone to the GPS’s microphone input without interfering with the bikes audio system. As long as the radio is ON you have connectivity. One might say it operates in tandem with the bikes audio system.

You pair your phone with the GPS and once that is accomplished you make and receive calls via the GPS interface. Voice directions on most GPS units that I know of take preference over all other GPS functions such as listening to MP3 files that you have loaded, or phone calls. So if you’re talking on the phone or listening to MP3 files the GPS will interrupt that audio output in order to give you that voice turn direction.

A phone has a feed thru circuit that allows you to hear in the earpiece what you are saying in the microphone. The GPS does not have this circuit, (I wish it did) so you do not hear what you are saying when you talk into your helmet microphone, this is where the integration to the Harley audio system comes in. Since the Bomm does not affect the audio system and it remains fully functional you can take advantage of the intercom to feed the microphone circuit back to the helmet speakers and this allows you to hear what you are saying. This is accomplished by turning your intercom ON. If you have the VOX adjusted then you don’t have to use the PTT switch to hear waht you are saying on the phone. If the VOX is OFF then you would need to use the PTT switch. I ride with the VOX on and adjusted so that when I do receive a call I just touch answer on the Zumo and talk, its hands free at that point.

One flaw with this is that you have to have the radio in the AUX input position, because you would not be able to hear the GPS as its audio output is directed to the radio’s AUX input.

Another flaw is that if you don’t use the VOX and instead use the PTT switch and you have the CB ON then you will transmit what you are saying over the air.

Another draw back at the moment is that the passenger can hear the phone conversation but can not talk. I’m working on a solution to this as many customers would like the ability of the pillion seat to be able to talk also.
