The FL Driving Experience..What Fun!

The attached news clipping pretty well describes the Florida driving experience.  Sure is fun to play dodgem' cars on a scooter!

I wish I could say how shocked I was, but after living here only five months, I'm just not.

My observations of FL driving:

Everybody down here is from New York.

 I lived in Clearwater from 1989-1991 and Boca Raton from 1992-1996. I sold my motorcycle shortly after arriving and didn't buy another until I moved back to Upstate New York in 1997. That was the only break in my motorcycling addiction since my youth. I loved living in Florida but everytime I tried to go for a ride it seems I had to perform at least 3 death defying manuever's per day. Not to mention dealing with the normal everyday knuckleheads. There is definitely some very nice riding area's in Florida but around the bigger cities it wasn't worth the risk and aggrevation (imho). So I settled for a Corvette Convertible instead.

There has to be redeeming features, cause it sure seems like a lot of people try to retire there.

But seriously, we try not to say too much about the more mature set of folks, as Jamey's grandmother, 93 still drives her BMW in Pierson, FL, and she actually has hit someone on their motorcycle. She does not know any speed except for Stop and GO and GO=fast.

 [smiley=cherry.gif]

Actually it is a 325-IS, a fairly hot ride! And she hit a moped, got out of the car, ran around to the front, looked at the gut she had hit and said one word, "$H!T"

JC are you reading this? Probably a lot like CA but through the Carolinas is a better, safer way to go on your summer trip east.

Yep, just read it and was thinkin exactly that............man, sounds like daily riding in Calif.  Was thinking that Florida might be a state to visit but now I'm thinking not!  Doesn't matter where we go, it'll all be easier for Andy........he deals with the bay area traffic on a daily basis.  I get totally stressed every time I go there.  So why am I headed that way as soon as I get off work, again? [smiley=nixweiss.gif]  (Last three weekends in a row).  Oh yea, I love pain. [smiley=nervous.gif]
