The start of the season

BBQ Season that is. The DC Firefighting BBQ Team is headed to Salisbury Maryland tomorrow to compete in the Maryland State BBQ Championship. New ideas this year and some of the going back to basics.

I don't know if it is all of that, but I will try to put on a good show.

Got up early to get packed and hit the road early. Man it is PEA SOUP weather out there right now. Think I will go back to bed and dream about ribs!!!!!

DOOD thanks. I hope the Judges are nice to us this year. If we win I promise the side of the new trailer ( under construction as we speak) will be lettered in "GOLD LEAF" letting everyone know we are the reigning Md champs.

Well we had a great time and "WALKED". So the weekend was not a wash out. 100 teams showed up. It is the largest event east of the Mississippi. When I get home tonight I will post some pics. With the help of DOOD as I need to resize them.

By "walked" I hope you mean you won by a comfortable margin which is difficult to do for ribs when the top several scores are within 175-178 normally.  That's always a VERY competitive category.

Jester down here "Walked" means you finished in the top and received an award. I did not do squat with my ribs,I did take 4th out of 100 in (of all things) Chicken. It was very good but we should have done better. There was 1/2 a point between 2nd and 4th. Hell I'm happy. A very large group and some very big names showed up. When I get home I will post some pics. I know you will understand when you see them.
