Is a race tuner a must when installing V&H classic slip ons?
« on: April 22, 2009, 01:12:33 PM »

I have a 2009 SERG and would like a little more sound from the stock mufflers.  I would like to install V&H classic slip ons but am wondering if it is necessary to install a tuner and remap on the dyno.  Any insight will be helpful.  I am getting conflicting information from different dealers.  One dealer says add the slip ons and see how it runs... another says need to add race tuner and dyno it.
What is the concensus?

Plagerized from Greg:

Take a look at the past threads in the SERG board.  You'll learn a lot by reading these:

Installing Fullsac Baffles on 09 CVO Road Glide:  http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=28086.0

Short answer, you'll end up putting a tuner on.

Bike will be absolutely fine slipping them on and riding it, but I can provide you with a very slightly tweaked stage 1 map that would make it feel more alive and run a tad richer and still in closed loop.
