Oil cooler adapter
« on: April 27, 2009, 09:19:38 PM »

When I change my oil filter the oil cooler adapter will turn a little each way, like maybe 1/4" to 3/8" in either direction depending if I'm loosening or tightening the oil filter, does any body else's do that ?

I don't see any leaking between the adapter and oil filter housing.

I wanted to tighten up the center hex head bolt that is supposed to hold the adapter in place but the hex head must be a odd size, 3/8" is too small, 1/2" is too large and 10MM is to small and thats all the sizes I have in the tool box, does anyone know the right size hex head to use ?? I'm not seeing 7/16" listed in the Sears catalog, maybe it's a 12MM.

Don't remember how much they cost but Harbor Freight offers an impact rated set of 1/2" drive sockets in sized larger than normal automotive uses.  Set does include 7/16" though goes as far as 3/4" if I remember correctly.

I got a 7/16" hex socket at NAPA and tightened up the fitting about a half turn so hopefully it will be good.

Thanks for the help.
