Since I have 8 qts of the 20W60, at the next change I will do 2 qts 20W50 and 2qts 20W60 til it's gone.   Cocktail blend of 20W55..     :)

I've been runnin HD's syn3. Had them do first change and I'm comin up on second one. Does anyone use this stuff? Should I switch to redline or amsoil? And should I just do engine now 5k service, or change it all out to these different brands?

Pete.......ditch the Syn3!

As you note from myself and some others,  Redline is a good choice for the motor (amsoil and Mobil1) are too.  But for the transmission,  it's hard to beat Redline HD shockproof (or their new m/c version of it).....they also have an option for the primary case as well. :cherry:

Thanks. Was gonna do syn3 again just because, but it is noisy so I'll give redline a shot.

Sounds like a good mix to me..Especially in a motor with some hard miles on it or allot of miles.

Road trip New York to Sturgis, me and my bro-in-law, both on '06 Road Kings, AC, Stage 1, V&H on mine, AC, Stage 1, Reinharts on his. Gross weight about the same. I was running Amsoil 20W-50 in all 3 holes, he was using HD Syn-3. We both had LCD dipsticks and checked oil temp at each gas stop. I was always 10 to 15 degrees cooler and always got better gas milage. Halfway there we switched dipsticks and the results were the same. Have used Amsoil products in every thing I can put it in since they first introduced them with excellent results.

I'd like to see a similar side by side with Amsoil and Redline.  Amsoil is good, but whoopin Syn 3 isn't much of a contest.

Redline V-Twin Syn 20W50 (winter), 20W60 (summer) in the crank case.
Redline Heavy Shockproof in the tranny.
Amsoil Super Shift Syn ATF in the primary.

They are both good. I actually think Mobil1 is right up there too, and use that simply due to the easier availibility around here. I use the 20W50 V-Twin in the Motor, 10W40 4T in the Primary, and the 70W90 Gear Lube in the Tranny.
