Best wishes from Bonny Scotland still waiting for my Crimson and Slate
to find it's way over

Ian, welcome to the board!  The wait will be worth it in the end.......it was for the rest of us.  But you'll probably have a few restless nights between now and when you pick it up...........especially, once you find out that it's actually at the dealership! [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]

Anyone have opinion on the new '06 Stereo on the S/E Ultra CLassic?  Are the speakers good?

I've had the 06 speakers and a pair of Hogtunes in the same bike over the same road for comparison.  A bit more overall volume out of the Hogtunes.  A bit more high end clarity out of the 06 2 ohm speakers.  Both much much better than the pieces of crap that had been the stock speakers in years previous.

Speakers sound great to me-  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] even when playing MP3's.  IMHO I don't feel there is any need to change them out.

Hey twolane,
Do you know how they compare to the speakers in the 05 SEEG? I was wondering if it was worth changing mine out.

MJ,

ANYTHING over the stock speakers will be an improvement.  Two tins, a keyfob magnet and some burlap will be an improvement over the stock speakers we all started with.

If you swap to either HogTunes or HawgWired's current speaker you really won't be believe the difference you'll hear.  It'll be both significant and positive.  You won't have to push the radio's power (volume) up nearly so high to get much better sound.  That means your not pushing its internal amplifier up in to the range where it's pretty significant distortion comes in to play more.  So the speakers will be better and the radio will be better because of them.

Our original speakers are, unfortuantely, little round pieces of poopeekaka.  That we should have something better is without doubt.  That there are tons of options from the automotive market gives us choices.  With the HogTunes and HawgWired options we've actually got really good speakers setup for the motocycle environment though.  If you feeling like spending an hour someday yanking the fairing on and off the speakers are a really good thing to upgrade and a really easy change to make.

In the category of must have changes, I needed - among other things - more rear visibility; hence my post: "LED (Rear) Lighting."

After reviewing some of the discussion, I just added what I think are some awesome pics/solutions: http://flhrsei.org/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?num=1132970136

What do you think?
