I have owned 5 -911's from 1977,1980,1983,1997,and a 2002. You need to your homework and go to the forums for porsche. It would also be wise to have a leak down test done to the motor to find out the compression on each cyclinder. You can PM me or give me you number I can call you some time. I live in TN.

Also ask about the cam chain tensioners and the cylinder studs.  These are 2 areas that have had issues.  Dilivar studs and hydraulic tensioner conversion are what you want.

TN,
Did the Porsche thing in the 80's, fun to drive but maintenance costs are out of this world. $ 600.00 to replace the thermostat on the 944S. $ 500.00 for tune up. Broke me from buying expensive imports!  :o

Hey TN, check the undercarriage pretty close for rust......they're notorious for it (at least the earlier 911's and 912's were) and mine had a problem with rust inside the gas tank.  Expensive to fix that also.  They're adult go-carts and everyone should own at least one sometime or other.  This may be your time.   ::)  har!  spyder

What year was your 914? I had a 75 with a 1.7L. I miss that car.
