Should you load a tune into a stock 09 SERG?
« on: June 07, 2009, 12:48:52 PM »

Havent received my exhaust yet but I do have the Pro Tuner and would like to make the bike breathe a little better if possible and relieve it from the factory lean condition.  Anybody ever load the canned map before opening up the exhaust?   Or should I just leave well enough alone until the pipes arrive?  :nixweiss:

30 min ago I loaded a map for a stock 09 SERG with my PC V. Even with stock exhaust and cat I think it runs a little better. The motor feels smoother and it feels like it pulls strong up to about 5000 rpm. It used to fall on its face at 4500 rpm.

I cant tell for sure if it runs cooler because I am wearing shorts today but I think it might.

I used a Power Commander V or PC V. I loaded a map to the PC V that I got on this forum. The PC V connects between the ECM amd the wiring harnes.

When you load the map set the bias table(s) to 760 and advance the timing tables 1.75 - 2 degrees.  I think you'll like that.

What AFR does that bias setting indicate?  Did you set all the bias positions to 760?   Also what effect do you get from advancing the timing tables 1.75 to 2 degrees?   Just curious as I might try this on mine.

I've been thinking of doing the same. Changing the bias sounds a lot better than changing the fuel map because I believe if you change it away from 14.6 it goes out of closed loop mode.

When you change the bias do you change it at every box?

What is the MAP axis? Anyone know?

Thanks
Chris.
