How hard is to remove the front fairing? I'm getting ready to install the tweeter pod and was wondering do I need to remove the headlight assembly?

Its really easy to take the front 'clamshell" (outer fairing) off.  First remove the two chrome outer torx screws on the windshield strip.  Next there are two black torx screws on the rider side of the inner fairing - one on each ear.  Then remove the two black torx screws that are in the square opening on the rider side ( down around the steering neck). You will have to turn the handlebars to locate these and a droplight or a flashlight is helpful.  Last take off the last chrome torx in the center of the windshield trim strip.   Ease the outer fairing up and around the passing lamps.  There are two headlight connectors - squeeze them on the base near the wire and you can detach them leaving the bulbs in the headlamp assembly.   Carefully lay the outer fairing somewhere safe on a heavy towel. Take your time as you don't want to risk scratching the fairing - paint is EXPENSIVE to repair.  Its also nice if you have a second set of hands.

Installation is the reverse.

I really suggest that you pick up a copy of the seervice manual from the dealer if you are going to do any work on the bike at all. It really helps to understand how they are put together and the shop manual has lots of pictures and illustrations that are helpful.

cheers!

Great Advice!  also when you reinstall the windshield do not overtighten the screws :o

You can do it - it is VERY REWARDING to work on your scoot :2vrolijk_21:

Thanks for the input guys I took the Fairing off today it wasn't anywhere as bad as I expected... took the fairing off, installed a HogPod and put the fairing back on in 1 hour and 15 minutes, once again thanks for the advice and I will picking up a manual on Saturday.

The service manual is a must have.  Scott ("Flying Ace" on this site) has electronic indexed .pdf manuals.  I've put mine to good use for both bikes.  Might want to shoot him a PM and ask about them.
The socks on the passing lamps murphy mentions are true paint savers.  I learned that trick from Terry (Midnight Rider) a couple years ago.  Also, it would be a good idea to cover the front fender with a thick blanket.....just in case.  I learned that lesson the hard way.
