Mike,
I can't believe this chit. I will be sure to check my parts well if I ever get any.  I just got off the phone with the MOCO. I am working with a new John now. I don't know what happened to John Selensky. when you get a chance could you send a clearer picture of the purple striped outer fairing?

Sure, Its hard to get a good shot of this, Ill try.

A good shot of how the fairing looks to naked eye, no crimson flakes

Im wondering after listening to the voice mail message again, if this wasnt the same John you are refferring too?, Come to think of it, maybe it was. It sure didn't sound like the same guy as far as concern for this issue....ummm, maybe I will owe John Selensky an apoligy ??

another funny thing, I recieved my Check From Oakland HD for the extended warranty I cancelled, AND also a Thanksgiving card to my family encourageing them to buy my christmas gifts early for me from Bob drons HD of Oakland CA. They were thoughtfull enough to include a 'wishlist' that my family can use to write down my clothing sizes etc. and other items that I most certainly want my family to pay full price for .....LOL, DOH !!!!

The truth here is that no motorcycle manufacturer (or car manufacturer for that matter) produces a product that is free of defects 100% of the time. It's when you pay a premium price for a product that is touted as the flagship of the company and it isn't right when it is crated up for delivery to the customer that you feel the splinters. Add deceit, arrogance and apathy on the part of the manufacturer to the warranty process and you come to believe that your money would have been better spent on something else. It's no wonder owners are starting to feel like they could do without the hassle and by association their CVO.
Most of us wouldn't put up with this from any other product and it never ceases to amaze me that we make this one exception on an exceptionally high priced product.

As a side note ... I never felt this way about my 1999 FLHR or my 2000 FLHTC ... curious. [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Key selling point from salesman at Oakland HD while my wife is standing there......." ([highlight]She keeps saying this to piss me off today[/highlight])..."and the reason you pay so much more of a premium for this bike, its a custom bike, with special paint, and a lot of things other bikes dont come with...it will hold its re-sale value much better than a non-CVO".

Darn Cigarmike...just spit coffee!

Actually this thread had taken yet another dark turn and it has me very concerned.  The swirl marks and light coverage that the parts show are very obvious.  Would think "problem resolution parts" would get a bit more attention.

Remember the guys painting and packing these parts don't care where they are going and may not even know the story, but I promise that the management does.  Warranty expense is something all companies track and this one, though low volume should hit the radar screen by nature of the expense of each occurance.

The sad part is the replacement parts would cost no more to do correctly in the long run.  Just a missed detail for whatever reason.

I had to do some back and forth but was finally promised replacement parts.  Got the bag lowers first and they are PERFECT [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif].  So it is possible.

I am worried at what will be coming on the rest.  I promise I will be there on a sunny day and will go over each piece.

BTW Mike.  Cant wait to see how that new fangled wax we all bought is going to look on the back of those bags.  Let us know!

Maybe the "Quality Control" division of the MOCO needs some retraining or less influence from the bean counters to keep pushing product out the door to keep numbers up?

I was watching a show a year or so ago about a tabasco hot sauce company in the South that has a painted stick carried by each one of the pickers to make sure they pick a pepper that is exactly the right shade of red and in turn the right degree of ripeness for picking in order to make the best quality product.

Maybe the MOCO needs to have a display of a perfect paint job and hold each piece up to it and if it doesn't match it is not installed? [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

I agree with you SEULTRA, if our bikes were just transportation and at an average price I bet we would not be as upset.
We want to believe the ads and hype that Harley builds a quality product to begin with and that as a CVO owner we are paying for a bike built at a slower pace, limited numbers on a seperate line and supposedly greater attention to detail. So we feel like we are suposed to pay to own the best of the best.
My thought is, if every CVO had to be shown to Wille G or maybe Mr.Zimmer (C.E.O.) before it left the factory would they be proud to ride that bike at Sturgis or Daytona and show it off? If not maybe it should not leave the factory?
I consider myself lucky with my 2006 Haze,no paint defects that I can see but I have had a cracked oil line and a broken AM/FM antenna wire. I realize the more complex the bike the greater the chance for problems but in 9 years I never had to bring my 1997 Fatboy in for anything other than maintenance stuff.

That wax will never get put on faulty parts. Chrome, Vette, mamas car yes. But its too damned expensive for defects UltraPole. Nancy called me in late afternoon, said, I must of gotten someones attention, the rep wants to see it friday morning, I only agreed if I can be there this time for the inspection. Gotta make sure he has the correct pair of glasses on. This is same Rep who shot down my original claim on Milky paint, saying their was nothing wrong with it. I have a new other way I'd settle this claim now, they [highlight]give[/highlight] me the first set of tins that are still sitting at the shop so I can have them painted correctly. Id sign a waiver on the spot.....But that just sounds way to easy for them to agree too. 2nd option, switch me to Autumm Haze parts, (how much more can an inner fairing, lower fairings, rear fender, and bag lids cost to right this wrong?) 3rd option, cash settlement. (No matter what, The '06 black crimson will always be known to be defective, and this is well known or will be by anyone interested in paying the price for a limited edition bike, the re-sale value is shot, short of me passing on MoCo's attempted fraud to someone else. I cant do that, ), I want to be able to sleep at night) . I can live with the paint for the diminished value, or take the settlement and go have it painted correctly), again, this just sounds way to easy to get a Corporation to agree to. 4th option. Strait-up trade in on an '07 B/0. Ill put all my stock parts back on the '06 and they can deal with this bike. This after 11 months and 6500 miles of problems has to be looked at as a Lemon. it took them over 7 months since the first time I was told, parts are on the way to get where I am at now. I shouldnt be subjected to another waiting period. 5th option. If they can gte me a set of MATCHING factory looking painted parts that look like the inner fairing, and bag lids in a resonable amount of time, say 2 weeks. I'd do that, but I really doubt that they can.

I have been the most out spoken, and dilligent person, I spend the time, write the letters, jump thru the hoops, make constant phone calls, do the research, and plain out be the biggest pain in the ass of probably all of you, and you'd think, they would make sure as pissed yet patient as I have been thru all of this, they make sure They would get this right on my bike when its my turn.
If the rest of you are getting good parts and are happy wth them, thats great, but me, Im tired of the run around. Id really like to just get what I paid for, and ride without regrett while my pecker is still functioning properly in this lifetime.

I was at my local dealer just yesterday and there were a couple employees complaining about quality from Milwaukee lately.  A bike had just been uncrated and it had no brake pads on the front brakes.......sounds like AMF all over again.  [smiley=soapbox.gif] No oil dripping on the dealers floor yet , though.  [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif] [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]

8-)  Thanks for the advice and support! Hopefully, everything will turn out fine.  The beltguard sounds like a good addition...any idea on how much that costs to buy/install?  Any other suggestions for bling down the road?  I'm going to stick with the stock pipes for now and see how everything sounds/runs before I start changing any of that stuff out. [smiley=nervous.gif] [smiley=drink.gif]

I've already ordered about 1K worth of boots, jackets, helmets, and chaps. There may be a thread on here about that, [highlight]but if you've never seen or felt a jacket/chaps from Fox Creek Leather[/highlight], you don't know what you're missing!  It's the absolute best, hands down.  I'm OCD about this kind of stuff, so research everything to death, 'cause I only want to buy high dollar things once.  Also Cruiserworks Boots...awesome footwear and their deerskin gloves are also great. Give 'em a look...thanks again for the encouragement!

Terry, I guess I will never know what it feels like. I got this e-mailed to me from Fox Creek today:
Mark,

This is an update on your order. Due to problems getting high quality
colored leather into our factory, we are discontinuing the Men's Striped
Jacket . I realize that you've been waiting a long time for a yellow
striped jacket. What we'd like to do is offer you 50% off of any other
Men's Jacket in stock. Please take a look at our website and get back
with me. Thanks,

Chippy

Bummer, Mark...they are offering you a damn good deal on something else though...you might want to consider finding you a Bananna to sew on the back or something.  It does show what kind of company/people you are dealing with.  I know you wanted that Bananna jacket though.  If you ever get something of theirs, you'll understand why they are so picky about what kind of product they sell to a customer.

Damn...I think that was one of my first posts you dug up there...somebody jerking a newbie around about chrome belt guards and chit... ;D ;D :P :P

I have a pair of their deerskin gloves and love them. I decided to take them up on the 50% off and go with the Vented Reflector Jacket, $166.00 to my door. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]
