OK, it gets better for me, now, John Selensky called today and we got to have a conversation and discuss, he assurred me they would do what they can to make it right, but the process has to start with the Rep on friday, so Ill take a step back and start over, he did say many are happy with the new parts, and if they had to order another set, that it wouldnt take as long this time. I* hate this.

I was at my local dealer just yesterday and there were a couple employees complaining about quality from Milwaukee lately.  A bike had just been uncrated and it had no brake pads on the front brakes.......sounds like AMF all over again.  [smiley=soapbox.gif] [highlight]No oil dripping on the dealers floor yet , though.[/highlight]  [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif] [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]

Sorry to hear about the bad paint Mike.  This is indeed a frustrating problem, that I also feel has taken way to long to fix.  That said I was talking to the service manager today and he said all but 1 part that got shipped to chicago by mistake are in.  He said the emblems are on the tank.  Wonder what kit of paint I'll get.

Mike;
Be sure to print out the pics of the problem areas and bring them with you. You know how different light changes things and we may have rain on Friday.

A few more shots of the bags, trust me, all the parts are like this, I just cant seem to get a good shot in the sun of the other parts, reflection and chrome wont let me get anything that the glare doesn't screw up.

Mike, I occassionally contribute to this thread as I am also waiting on a second set of replacement paints. The front fender was the only part that was right from the first set. I kind of lurk reading this thread everyday. My Area Rep, who is a very helpful guy by the way, had told me what to expect from the new paint process - less clear coat and more pronounced lines on the stripes. What bothers me is how there can be a new process, indicating a problem had been recognized, but new parts are still being sent out with the old milky paint. This bothers me, but as big as HD's become doesn't surprise me.

So, as I said I'm now waiting on a second replacement set. I can't imagine they would allow milky paints to be delivered again, but won't be surprised if it happens. I will continue to read your posts daily while hoping your problem eventually gets resolved. Hopefully this time around they'll get it right. Surely they won't/can't just keep changing out bad parts!?? [smiley=confused5.gif] I'll let you know what happens on my end. Good luck (once again).

I think you will find that they are not starting over with fresh parts in many cases, just trying to fix some of the returned parts.  Remember when they claimed you could buff them out and they'd be fine?  The only way they can really get them right is to start over from scratch; either strip the existing paint from the returned parts, or start with brand new parts.

Was at the dealer yesterday dropping the bike off for yet another starter.  The service manager said all but 1 saddle bag is in.  I told him before I bring in the bike that I want to look at all the parts on a sunny day( that may take a bit here) and go over it before it is installed.

Jerry

I'm with you on this Jerry...Mike's parts look like recycled bad parts that have had a bad buffing job to attempt removing the clearcoat enough to get down to some "clear" underneath the surface.  From my limited knowledge of painting, the stripes are going to prevent them from sanding this stuff down to where it needs to be.  If I were managing the process, I think it would be relatively easy to justify to managment that it is more labor intensive, and therefore more costly, to attempt stripping/sanding than to just simply start over with new primed parts.  My bike, built in May of 06, obviously has a different paint process, as the stripes are able to be felt with the fingertips, under the clear. I have checked a couple of bad ones out with my fingers (without the owners noticing), and the difference is obvious.

By the time the MOCO wastes all this time/labor/shipping/installation, they could have just done it right when the problem started being brought to their attention.  Is there any kind of consumer advocacy group that could be contacted (national level) to put pressure to bear on the MOCO about this?
