Hopefully.  The parts look good out of the box.  I'm not gonna call it done until I see the bike with the new parts on.  Can't wait until Saturday...............but honestly, for those who inspected their parts prior to installation and found them acceptable, were you swayed when you saw your bike after installation?  Did it look as good with the new parts on as the parts did out of the box?  Just wondering.

Howie, It makes me proud to see you finally admit that the [highlight]2006 Black Emerald & Majestic Green Pearl [/highlight]Harley-Davidson Custom Vehicle Operations Screamin' Eagle Ultra Classic Electra Glide FLHTCUSE is "The best CVO they ever made!"   [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]  And might I add:  BAR NONE!   [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif] [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]

Henry ;)

Henry... I'm glad you feel that way about your scoot. A rider SHOULD be proud of their bike. Personally, I would never have bought the bike with that color on it ... but to be fair , I like purple even less.  [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif] ;D ;D ;)

It isn't my favorite either, but that purple pin stripe and the purple outline on the flash just does it for me.  When I first saw that paint scheme..............there was no stopping me!  I had to have it.  IN MY MIND, that is the best looking paint scheme I've ever seen..........and that is coming from someone who has never liked anything but blue and black.  Remember my 02 Ultra????  Thanks.

Bagger,

I took each of mine outside in the sun and looked them over very closely.  I'll bet I looked like an idiot, but I did not care.  The more I looked, the more excited I got.  Looked for stripe level, sparkle in the black, edge quality, swirl marks and mask quality.  All were perfect, and when they were put on they looked even better. [smiley=mango.gif]

Even in dim lighting, the black is bolder.  I thought it would be different only in the sun.  If they looked good in your hand, man are you gonna like what they look like on the bike! [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

I checked my parts in the boxes, in direct sunlight, everything looked good, no suprises after install, well, I take that back the tech did put one small scratch on the front fender, it was showed to me when I picked up the bike it is in a spot that is not noticable and they were honest about it. I would never have seen it I don't think. so, I will live with it!!!

That is great news Henry (Bagger)!!!  I'm certain that things will look even better on the bike than they did in the box.  If you can feel the stripes, you're good to go, my friend!  Looking forward to seeing the bike this Saturday, weather permitting.  Let me know what time you'll be down and we'll meet you at Riders for a look and of course some pictures!!

Swayed. YES! Did it look as good on?  NO! While the parts I got looked great when inspected, they were on a bench and not just in the box, when we got them mounted on the bike there were "blems" in both the fairing and tank.  Both are in the process of being replaced now, I left the bike at the shop....two thoughts here: 1. Mike L had an issue when they said he "accepted the tins" 2. If the POS is in there way they most likely won't forget about it until its done.

I know my dealer is as pi$$ed about the MoCo and the paint as I am so no worries there.  In fact the service manager is the one who found both flaws, the tank one just prior to placing a call to me to say the bike was ready, it was his final check over.

The fairing flaw looked like a tape mark on the outermost edge in front of the brake lever.  The tank flaw looked like a thinner/solvent drip prior to clear coat and made a dissolved run.  Also, there were some minor rubbing scratches which were resolved with proper waxing.

So, that said, make damn sure you have a bright light or sunlight and look it over a long time before you pick it up.  The parts without flaws are awesome and I cna't wit to be done with the swap outs, no good weather here now anyway so I'm not missing any riding and the bikes in a heated shop....works for me.

I'm in a fight with the a$$holes at "customer care" now. They've said 3 bleed throughs on a brand new right saddlebag is just hunky dory with them. They didn't even look at a photo of the problem. Just took CSHDs word that the defects were within HD paint guidelines (better known as IF YOU CAN'T SEE IT IT'S ALL GOOD). I'm going to takes photos and email them to "customer care" and see if they will change their minds about it. I'm also going to post them here so others can get a visualization of what the problem is.
Wish me luck.

Good luck, don't give up the fight, right is right and they ought to get it right.  Sounds like it isn't just the weather in Colorado Springs that is the chits, might be CSHD too.

You know Roger, it does seem like this is all coming down to the dealer and how they handle the problem for you.  I was really concerned that Bagger had the problems at Rocket City HD near Huntsville (a NOTORIOUSLY POS dealer), and was then bringing his bike down here to Rider's HD in B'ham, who has had a less than stellar reputation in the past, but in recent months seems to be genuinely trying to turn things around at both dealerships (owned by the same guy).  They move a lot of bikes, even if they are overpriced, and they took care of Henry in relatively short order.  They must be doing something right with the MOCO to get things taken care of.  I guess you really don't know what is said between the dealer and the MOCO, and those who don't give a chit about the customer just let the MOCO run over 'em instead of fighting.

This is what I'm talking about.  Yesterday my parts looked good when they were taken out of the box, in the sun, and when held next to the unstriped parts and one good saddlebag on my scoot.....Really good.  My concern is the parts had JUST come out of the box, and as every part out of the box does, they had what I call "box dust" from the packaging on them.  Yes, we got most of it off......and where it looked like a problem, we cleaned it again, but the bottom line is, I'm not gonna know.........FOR SURE..........until I see the Girl all in one piece and thoroughly cleaned on Saturday morning.  All that said, I feel pretty darn good about this, but there is a part of me that remains reserved.  Hopefully I'm generating all this stomach acid for nothing.  Thank God for Prevacid. Rider's does want to get this right.  I'm not sure if they're genuinely concerned, or if their concern is due to the emphasis placed on my particular challenge by the HD area rep.  I'd like to believe it is the former as opposed to the later.  It took just shy of three months for all of my parts to get to Rider's.  When I got there yesterday, those guys were going out of their way to help me.  They put all the boxes on a cart, pushed them out to the parking lot by Norrell Dr. where I was parked, helped me get my scoot out of my trailer, and then they carefully unpacked each part, so I could go over each part for as long as I wanted and however I wanted.  They even had a rear tire put back with my name on it, despite demand due to the strike........and wouldn't let me pay them in advance for their trouble to hold it for me.  So, do they have my business..........you're doggone skippy they do, and if that means I need to bypass 2 dealerships and one "NOTORIOUSLY POS" HD franchised excuse for a dealership (aka:  Rocket City HD) in order to get fantastic service for my Girl, then that is what I'll do.  I was not bothered one bit by the over 200 mile round trip toting a trailer getting 15.6 mpg in my diesel truck yesterday..........and I don't think I'll mind too much on Saturday either.  Hopefully all is well with my scoot, and I won't have to eat those words. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]  Knock on wood!
