You'd like to think that getting an otherwise beutiful part in hand that was released new with flaws would inspire whomever is doing the repaint to get it right this time.  But you know one min wage kid will unpack it, another will take it to a blast cabinet and whomever is actually laying on paint will never have seen what it was to begin with.

Yup :-\

I gotta wonder if someone will get my old parts..............as in when they get to the MOCO, will they simply buff them out, package them, and send them to someone else with a warranty claim.  Seems chitty, but I know that is what happened to me with the first left saddlebag lower I received.  My old fairing, tank, and sidecovers are obviously wrong as was the original front fender since it had a fisheye.  Besides the cloudy look, the fairing had a white patch on the edge by the right mirror....looks like someone ripped off the masking tape and took some of the paint.  The first left saddlebag lower received still had the velcro inside for the liner, and it was easy to tell it had been buffed.  Both of my new ones are just that.  No velcro.  Hopefully they do the right thing and repaint them.  No one should be stuck with those parts, and I really hope no one here gets them.

I've been out of touch for a while. I'm still out of the country but expect to get home sweet home in about a week. It's very encouraging to see so many paint problems finally getting fixed. My first set of paints were replaced back in September. The front fender was the only part that was good. So they re-ordered everything else in October. I called the dealer today and parts are still not in! They're trying to find out why it's taking so long. It's making me nervous! I'm starting to wonder - what if they never were ordered, though the dealer's records show they were. There was some kind of shakedown at the dealer in December. Most of the service department, including the manager were changed out.

The parts have been on order over 4 months! How long did ya'll have to wait? :confused5:

I waited about that long.  The dealer can confirm with MoCo that the parts order is still open.  The wait will be sooo worth it! :2vrolijk_21:

I have all my painted parts in and they all look good except the right saddlebag (which I posted pics of here). The dealer called me Friday and wanted to make an appointment to install the tins. I told him just as soon as Rusty Dwyer gave me a decision on the pics of the bag that I sent him (the same ones that I posted here). I hope Rusty will decide to send me a defect free good saddlebag so I can put all this behind me and be happy about showing people my SE.

Phil from "customer service" called me back and said Bob (Rusty) Dwyer decided not to replace the right saddlebag with the paint defects (bleed through in 3 places). Said it was a corporate Harley decision to address the paint issue from a perspective of what could be seen when mounted.  :zwtf:  I've decided to have the parts installed and be done with this. The only remaining thing to do is launch an informational posting campaign on the web to let others know what kind of quality to expect from Harley-Davidson. I'm done spending money at Harley-Davidson with the exception of maintenance parts for my scoot if there is no aftermarket part available.  :sauer005: :sauer005: :sauer005: :sauer005: :sauer005: :sauer005: :sauer005: :sauer005: :sauer005: :sauer005: :sauer005: :sauer005: :sauer005: :sauer005: :sauer005: :sauer005: :sauer005: :sauer005: :sauer005: :sauer005: :sauer005: :sauer021: :sauer021: :sauer021: :sauer021: :sauer021: :sauer021: :sauer021: :sauer021: :furious2: :furious2: :furious2: :furious2: :furious2: :furious2: :sauer055: :sauer055: :sauer055: :sauer055: :sauer055: :sauer055: :argue: :smilie_daumenneg:

Most frustrating, and I also, feel your pain. Someone made a real good decision to try and pull a fast one on some of the most successful and also pickiest of all Harley Davidson Owners. Good job MoCo.

Even though my claim is still open, I have to fight them tooth and nail for over a year now in hopes of only getting what they advertise, nothing more, nothing less. But they choose to insult my intelliegence, and try to blame their mistakes on me, and have a Rep lie to my face, like the money is coming out of his personal pockets. Im like you, they will Get NOT 1 penny from me in the future. Hows that for customer Loyalty??

Rusty also said that I dont get new bags, that the 5 finger prints and 80 grit color sanding marks UNDER the Clear Coat should rub out. lol, ok. And I have a voice mail saved on my cell phone where he tells me that he will send a new tank, fender and outer fairing, and let me pick between those new parts wether they are screwed up or not, or keep the screwed up ones that are on it now that they sent.

Has anyone who is NOT getting positive feedback from the MOCO considered using the local news media? Most stations have investigative or consumer reporters who would make the problems public.
I can't help but think Harley would not like the negative publicity in the middle of a strike since it would show quality control and customer service problems as well as employee issues.
I would hope they would expedite claims to maintain a good public image. But I guess they could explain away the slow replacement as part of the strike but Those of you with problems could easily prove the quality control and customer service problems started way before the strike.
Good luck and I hope for a good resolution for you guys.

That sounds like fun!  :huepfenjump3:  With all due seriousness, it makes no sense to me why the MoCo cannot get this RIGHT for every last one of us 06 FLHTCUSE owners.  I think VaEagle has an awesome idea.  I would venture to say that would be a viable course of action for those who have not yet been given the satisfaction for which they have paid.

SE...a couple of the local tv stations here do this...one, Channel 6, is called: 6 On Your Side.  They have helped people out with all kinds of problems when business has been jerking folks around.  I would think that CO Springs or Denver might take up a fight like this.  Might be worth a shot, at least.

Agreed. Not to worry ... I'll NEVER buy a new HD again and I intend to give the MOCO some "free advertising". The web is a big place and you can reach a lot of people. People will still buy new Harleys but I hope to enlighten them so they can make an informed purchase if they so desire.
I find myself wishing I had kept my 2000EG Classic.

It's all in the presentation Mike:

"Hello viewers, I'm Heather and we're here tonight so all of you can hear from Mike.  He's got an unbelievable story and you all need to know what he's gone through.  But first a little background.  Mike has spent his lifetime dedicated to making a home and leading a family.  To being nothing more than a good citizen here in our community.  Sure, he's enjoyed life.  But he's done without too.  One goal he's always had has been to have the biggest shiny new Harley he could get to ride around town with his wife.  Many of you out there secretly know that same dream.  Mike and his family saved and saved.  Eventually that dream became a reality.  Ladies and gentlemen you'd think that would be a high point wouldn't you?  Instead it was the beginning of a story almost impossible to believe.  A story of deception, outright lies, incompetence and failure after failure.  All the while with Harley Davidson, Incorporated, that supposed champion of man's free spirit repeatedly disregarded that very spirit of this one good man.  Mike, tell us your story.....

So c'mon Mike, if one of us wankers here on a silly website can give you those kind of favorables in 90 seconds at a keyboard think what a broadcast station with dedicated talent and an interest in finding big companies for juicy targets might do with you.

Ha ! good one, that sounds do-able, will I get to also demonstate for the TV viewers what I wanted to do to the MoCo Rep  by putting my hands around the neck of the Commentator, or will we have to use a stunt double??
