OK, so here's the latest.....
Let's recap (just a bit)
1) I go to pick up my new Crimson and Slate, and it's Crimson, Slate and some ugly dull greyish color. I say "No Way!" The stealer will have the rep look at it.
2)My stealer calls me and asks if I am going to still take the bike IF the moco says they will not fix it. I of course say NO! He then tells me they have a buyer that WILL take it like it is. Including the 6 speed, pipes and other crap ALREADY PAID FOR. They want to refund all my money so they can sell the bike to some other guy. The f-ing nerve! They have not even heard from the moco yet.
3)The HD rep tells me the factory said they looked at a new bike they had there and it was the same as mine...so they figure it is suppose to be they way. I told him I figure they are just ALL poorly painted!
4)The stealer (Van Nuys Harley Davidson) called me, they will refund all my money. Period. Why? Because they have another buyer. That is it. I don't even have the option of taking it. The stealer will not fight for me or care if I get screwed. Again, because there is a sucker in the wings more then likely willing to pay over the MSPR that I paid. They are trying to get me not to buy it! The Owner told me several time that they "are not the dealer for me". He even called me a crook because I came in with a cashiers check on a Saturday and everyone with bad checks comes in when the banks are closed and can't be verified. Yes, that came from the owner of Van Nuys Harley Davidson!
OK, now the latest....
Well I ride with The Patriot Guard Riders (more infor here
http://flhrsei.org/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?num=1133106433/0 ). Our last ride was in the Glendale, CA area. The owner of Glendale Harley agreed to let us us his lot as a meeting place to rally up. When I got there in the morning I saw hot coffee and 6 dozen donuts, YUM! I asked to contribute to the coffee and donut fund and was told the the dealership provided it all for us. WOW! I went in and asked for the owner to thank him. I was shown to the owner's (Oliver) office. Nice guy. I decided to share my story with him. He intrduced me to his service mgr. (Tom) who in turn had pictures taken of the paint and started the process to fix the issues. I told him I did not buy the bike there, and was told, "It does not matter where you bought it...this is a warrenty issue and we will take care of it". I went home and burned my Van Nuys Harley t-shirts (after buying a few at Glendale).
Tom called me a few days later and said he got the file re-opened on my paint issues. The MoCo nows wants to see if color sanding will help. I dropped my bag off to have a small area on the inside of the bag tested...though we all agree it will do nothing, Tom wants to do everything right so it can be taken care of....I can't argue with that. This is a dealer that is on MY side...these guys will fight for me and they don't have my 40 grand for the bike! I am sure over time they will....I found a new dealer!
Anyway, color-sanding did not work, go figure, so I am going to go pick up my bag today and see what happens next.
