Spoke with the factory rep today and he assured me that this paint issue will get fixed. He added that the vp of quality control Steve Phillips and customer service manager Robert Dwyer are aware of the paint issue and the number of complaints that are coming in. They are working with the paint dept trying to figure out a fix. Rep is doing what he could do and is just as upset as I am regarding this issue and the time it is taking for the MOCO to get off their ass and to come up with the fix/new painted parts.

I truly wish you all the best  What a shame. Even during the down years of AMF Harley-Davidson was known for the quality of it's paint and chrome Always superior to the imports Lotta gearheads who could straighten out the mechicals put up with a lot of abuse for standing behind the MoCo in those days, but one thing they could always pride themselves on Nothing and I mean nothing was prettier than a shiny Harley sittin in the sun.Hopefully the MoCo will see that nothing less than it's reputation with it's customers is on the line here and even if it means a total recall of all CVO model painted parts, they will fix the problem. Has anyone written to Willie G. ? His name is on the product and his family's heritage, history and pride is tantamount to the continued success of the brand.

As long as they're going to fix them I don't care if it takes a year, just knowing something WILL be done would ease the pain in my gut.

That's just sad.  The Motor Company has us so brow beaten as a client group and so appreciative of just being allowed the great privilege of spending our money with them that we're willing to be pleased to be dispossessed for a year of what we rightfully and righteously purchased; just to perhaps finally get right what should have been correct from moment one.

We'll sweat blood, put up with the indignities of their arrogance, be belittled and condescended to by being expected to accept "it's supposed to be that way," dance through the prescribed hoops of the corporate master to gain any satisfaction at all solely dispensed on their timetable and at their whim; and we'll be glad at the end because they finally "made it right" and allowed us the penultimate privilege of again supping at their table.

Has anyone when faced with accepting or not accepting one of these butt ugly freaking paint jobs told them to please take their bike and insert it rectally?

Not in exactly those words but I made it clear to the dealer, customer service and as of today in a letter the CEO, Willie G., Vp Quality and Customer Service Manager.

From my letter..

"I have purchased the most expensive “Factory Custom” motorcycle offered by the “Motor Company”.  I have never seen a CVO bike that was not perfect in color, fit and finish.  This is my tenth year of ownership of “H-D” motorcycles and my third “H-D” motorcycle.  I am also a stockholder and can not believe that this is what you intend for your customers.  I can only assume when you take delivery of your new FLHTCUSE that you will not see these issues.  I expect the same for mine.  Can you please check into this issue and let me know what the official response will be from Harley-Davidson, Inc."   [smiley=furious3.gif]

My first letter is polite and fully explains the experiance so far.  The next letter will include copies of letters to the FTC and Ga. State Consumer Affairs offices exercising my Lemon Law rights.  With 22 riders on this site alone with sub-standard paint there is surley remedies for this situation.  I really can't understand how the motor company can treat its top customers like this.

Word from my 'new' dealer (I didn't even by the bike from them, but they are helping with the paint issue) is that the MoCo is working on a solution....they know there is a proplem with my paint and the paint on other bikes and they are working to resolve it. THey are not sure what course of action they are going to pursue, but they will do something to make it right.

Make of that what you will.

mr. m, mines on the same truck.  Hope we get lucky, but if not, it looks as though things will work out for the better eventually. Too many really important things in life to worry about other than paint on our toys.  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]
PS.  I really am worrying, just trying not to let it show. After a little over 7 month wait, I am hoping for a positive, happy experience. After all, we could all be facing much worse, like engine troubles. At least bad paint won't strand you on the side of the road.  ;D

Well if the paint is bad might get a road glide and put a 120in motor with the 6speed thats been on the bench for a few months.  Not to worried it just a bike (wow did i really say that).

Tell me about it! I know from experience and it wasn't too funny at the time it happened. Main bearing went out 1st time at 4,200 miles 2nd time  4,900 miles after that. Owned the bike for two years and have never ridden it in the fall yet! It still is apart at dealership. Check out "Twin Cam sec. blown 103" for more info.

Are you nervous yet?! [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]

Take Care,

Grover

Pick-up my Haze this Spring...keep up the pressure as I'll most likely be shipping mine off to Europe within a couple on months of delivery, problems are bad enough, but being over here in Korea right now...you think the MoCo Customer Unservice ignores you when you can pound on a dealers desk, try only being able to do it by pounding on keyboards...

Since it went unsaid, Hey '06 Blk Crimson - Beautiful looking paint job on that Chief!!!

The last time I spoke to the service manager she says she is waiting for guidance from the MOCO about where and when to have the bike buffed this was about 2 weeks ago and she still hasn't called me. I called this mornging and she is out and won't be back in until Wednesday. They will have her call me then (yeah right). The manager laughed when I started to tell him who I was, he already knew because I have called so many times. I am really starting to get really annoyed with this problem and this dealer. I am going to call customer service first thing monday morning and it isn't going to be nice. I had the bike out yesterday and it was a nice sunny day here and the paint looks like crap it is embarrasing. Espcially when 2 of my friends bought new Road Kings the same time I got my bike and their paint looks a lot better than mine. I would rather have the bike painted solid vivid black than the way it looks now. I was noticing when I wash it the paint on the screwed up parts feels kind of sticky not smooth it even kind of squeeks when you rub a rag across it. I can see swirl marks in the paint on the bad parts also. I know it has already been buffed to try to remedy the problem before it left the factory.
