Ummm, they want time to research the problem?, Thats not exactly promising news. They have had since November. The problem is all of the striped parts. They all need to be REPLACED Anyone not sure that the tank is also brown....take off one of your lids and hold it next to....in the sunlight of course. The tank, The front fender, etc..... They are brown next to the Black of the lids. I have talked to an attorney, (freebie advise). She says, that MoCo will string this out over a year, it releases them from liability after that time that it is first brought to their attention that they have a F-Up. Also makes most of us who have complaints give up and go away. If this is their new customer relations scheme for the future......Its not a very good one.

I havent posted for awhile,, but my NEW TINS finally arrived at my Dealer,,  and they are NOT as bad as the Originals,, but they still have the Milk Dud look to them.  My Dealer and I havent decided where we are going to go with this yet.  I am still waiting for SOMEONE out there, to post pics of a Crimson/Black bike that has ALL good painted parts on it.  I saw a couple in Daytona,, and 1 was parked beside mine even,, and both those bikes had BAD paint.  One was alot worse then mine,,  so maybe I should feel ~LUCKY~ to have only BAD paint,, and not REAL BAD Paint???
My Dealer is waititng for the MOCO Rep to come back in to show him the parts to see where they <MOCO>  want to go from here.  Hey,, I am willing to wait the 6 months or whatever it takes to get the MATCHED SET,,  if that what it takes. I see some of the guys here are saying there Dealers are telling them the MOCO wants to try to buff the problem out,, well I was I think the first to post it here,,  after my Dealer tried it,, and I know  buffing will NOT fix the problem,, so I feel for all of you  who have to go thru what I had to go thru,, to try to get a new set of paint.  I am HOPING you get new tins,, and your paint is PERFECT if there is such a set out there.  Good Luck to ALL of US !!!

Saw a Watermellon at the Big Oaks Lodge on Bouquet Canyon yesterday and WOW was it bad :-[. We were on our Crimson and he wouldn't even look at it. I told the wife we should be happy ours ins't that bad. The tank was an UGLY brown, saddle bags/lids WAY different. HARLEY, you have a problem if you let things this bad out.

I could not agree more. I have posted before asking the guys (the 10%) that voted in the poll they had no paint problems on the blk/crimson to post pics. Still no one has posted [smiley=nixweiss.gif]! Makes you wonder why they will not.....

I saw a blk/crimson in ProTeam in Lawton, OK on Saturday am.  Only saw it inside, but compared to mine- I couldn't find any fogging or mismatched parts.  Mine I don't consider to be anywhere near as bad as some I've seen, but I can see the fog when it's inside or out.  This one I couldn't see anything-  all parts matched and there way no milk dud look to it at all.  I'm headed back tomorrow, so I'll take the camera if it's still there.

[smiley=confused5.gif]Hi everyone! Just joined the site and have really found it to be helpful! I have a deposit on a Black Crimson ultra with a ship date of May 12th, which hopefully will mean it will be here before Memorial Day weekend.  After reading and seeing all the problems with the paint on this color scheme, I got freaked out...called the dealer this AM (he's in Mobile...I'm in B'ham) to ask him about it.  He said he's got one customer who has a problem with the bags on his, but the rest of the paint seems to be fine. I personally saw one a couple of weeks ago at the B'ham dealership (can't buy from them...they want 2K over MSRP...I know that's not unusual, but I just won't do it...at least I'm getting mine for MSRP). They were unwrapping it on Thursday...I went back on Saturday - it was a bright, sunny day, and the bike had already been sold to a guy...anyway, he had it parked out front because the dealership was having a "party".  The bike was getting lots of oohs and aaahhs.  The paint on this one looked perfect to me, and I really looked at it from every possible angle, though at that time I was not aware that there was a problem with any of them. At any rate, this one looked great!  I also just called the factory...talked to a nice lady named Kathy...and told her about this forum and how I had read so much about the bad paint...she was aware of this site.  She SAID that they have had no NEW complaints in the last 3+ months and that the paint problem was "pretty much" solve on the ones coming off the line now.  Geez, I've been waiting to get a Harley for about 15 years now (I'm 54), and wanted to go ahead and do it up right, so carefully chose the SE Ultra.  I had an old panhead chopper back in the early '70's (you know, one of the death traps with no front brake, kick start, couldn't turn it around in a parking lot LOL), and have owned a few Honda's...considered a BMW this time around, but there's just something about the Harley...Keep your fingers crossed for me, and hope that the paint on mine is good. If it's not, the dealer assured me I would get my deposit back, but that's not going to help me have a ride, so I'll be broken hearted if it's not good paint.  Does anyone have any idea how much it would cost to have a bike re-painted (in original color configuration), if down the road the paint started turning milky? I do hope that all you guys who are having problems get it resolved...if mine's good, I will be sure and post photos for comparison. Thanks for being here!!

I can tell you that you're in the drivers seat until you hand over your hard earned cash. After that, you have to rely on the good graces of the dealer and the MOCO to address any issues you may have. Hopefully your bike will come in with zero defects and life will be wonderful. We're all rootin' for you that it will go down that way. You really shouldn't have to be thinking of repainting before you even get your bike.... you should be thinking..... BLING! (Right FireD00d??)
Be sure that your 1st chrome accessory is a chrome beltguard... then you can ride with some of the finest chromeaholics on this site. (Right Brett??)
WELCOME to the site.... it's the best!!  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

8-)  Thanks for the advice and support! Hopefully, everything will turn out fine.  The beltguard sounds like a good addition...any idea on how much that costs to buy/install?  Any other suggestions for bling down the road?  I'm going to stick with the stock pipes for now and see how everything sounds/runs before I start changing any of that stuff out. [smiley=nervous.gif] [smiley=drink.gif]

I've already ordered about 1K worth of boots, jackets, helmets, and chaps. There may be a thread on here about that, but if you've never seen or felt a jacket/chaps from Fox Creek Leather, you don't know what you're missing!  It's the absolute best, hands down.  I'm OCD about this kind of stuff, so research everything to death, 'cause I only want to buy high dollar things once.  Also Cruiserworks Boots...awesome footwear and their deerskin gloves are also great. Give 'em a look...thanks again for the encouragement!

May have some news about the paint problems.  I'm at P.O.T. (HOG Primary Officer Training) this weekend and Jim McCaslin, President & COO, and Steve Phillips, Director of Quality, for the MOCO are here.  I personally spoke to Steve about the paint issue and yes they are well aware of it.  He said the problem is specifically the thicknness of the clear coat on the saddlebags which as we all know is thicker (about 14 mils he said) so as to smooth out the lines from the decals.  Specific fix - they are working (with 3M I think he said) on special buffer and materials to take down the clearcoat or if necessary will replace the saddlebags with new ones with thinner clearcoat.  So there is hope!  I've met and talked to Steve on several occassions before and he is a good guy.  If he says it I'm confident he'll make it happen.

I'm sorry,... you're new and I was having fun with some members who have OCD (Obsesive Chrome Disorder). One of my favorite things to harass them about is the chrome belt guard because it can be hard to see (I tell 'em I have to lay down in the gutter to see it and call it "stealth chrome")  [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif]

By all means, get it & put it on yer scoot if you think you'll like it and that goes for anything else you want to do to it. You're the only one you need to please.

As you get to know us, you'll find that we love to take good natured jabs at each other and each others scoots. Take a look at "must haves" on this site. That will give you an idea of the things we buy for our scoots. Some of us don't add much to their bikes but we are in the minority. Most have drained their life savings on this passion... and no one here thinks thats strange. Gives you an idea of our perspective.  ;)

Good you are in a position to get direct contact.  We are holding onto that hope it will be resolved.

I got my bike out today and it is getting worse I believe.

Hey tcnbham, one advantage in changing out/adding chrome or other accessories from the 'git-go' is that some dealers will then include those items installed before you pick up the bike in the initial warrenty.  Such was the case w/ my SEEG as I swapped out the heavy-duty black starter for a like chrome one and a few other items that I can't remember at the moment......just something to ask about and it really doesn't cost anymore now or later 'cause it's all 'over-priced'!  ;D  Har!  spyder
