That is a great photo showing the contrast between the lid, fender and bag.

Show em that!

You will get the right ones.

Good Luck

I, too, originally stated in this thread I had no paint problems. In reading these posts and getting a better understanding of the problem I came to realize my paint is flawed...

They're setting up an appointment for the area rep to look at it. Here are more photos.

I tried to position the saddlebag lid close for comparison.

Those who have new tins...looked at my new bike...still on the pallet.  Paint looked fine, but it wasn't out in the sun.  Felt a saddlebag, and you could feel a ver slight difference in the amount of clearcoat over teh striped part compared to the upper part of the bag...not really a ridge, but just a small difference in the thickness that you could feel with the end of your finger running over the two surfaces.  Any body got new ones that can describe how it feels so I can put my mind at rest about whether I got the new paint process....Surely, after delaying for two weeks, about the same time people started getting new paint, they wouldn't ship another bike out with what they KNOW by now is bad clearcoat.    [smiley=nervous.gif]

Get it in the sun, sounds like the old stuff to me.  It has to be in bright sun for best comparison.

Hey Guys,
The HD rep came and looked at my milk-dud yesterday.  Came early so I missed him and he told the dealer to review the standards and talk to the tech rep.  Sounds like the "run-around" may be starting.

I agree that I have seen pics of some much worse than mine, but right is right.

The war may have just begun... [smiley=sauer021.gif] [smiley=rifle.gif]

Let us know how the parts look when they arrive, sounds like you are on your way to being right, at least in the paint department. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Had mine over to the dealer this past Sat. 4.27.06 for the Service Manager to look at.  Said he could see the difference, sent out one of the guys who took a number of pictures outside then rolled it inside to take even more.  I'll post again when I hear back.  [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

I took my watermelon to Macon H-D on Saturday.  My service tech looked it over outside in the bright sunlight and inside with a bright LED flashlight and decided that anything with multi colors had to be replaced.  He compaired the green metal flake on the front fender with the lowers and it was very dull and did not have the pop of the green on the lowers.  The browns on the fender, gas tank, front fairing and side covers are very milky when compared to the inner fairing, saddle bag spacers, or the rear fender.  He is ordering a new front fender, front fairing, gas tank, side covers and saddle bag lowers.  He has been behind me 100% since we started this discussion and told me Saturday that he would order parts till we both were happy.  Good to have a dealer behind you when this stuff starts.  I drive 110 miles one way just to go to this dealership, passing four other dealers on the way! Good news SEGeaser....I didn't get a look at mine out in the sun yet, cause it was still on the crate, but I hope at this late date they aren't sending them out with paint they know they've got to replace...

The sad thing is, how many people are out there who have not been made aware of this problem because they haven't had the good fortune to find this great site?  If the MOCO wanted to do the RIGHT thing, they'd have a recall on all of 'em but the Haze, as it seems to be the only one without a problem...or at least a problem that's visible.  You just know there's a bunch more out there with this problem and the owners might not even realize it.   :(

I got a call from my dealer stating that my new tins are in.  Outer faring, gas tank, saddle bags and front fender.  Going to dealer on Sat. to make sure the paint is perfect before I schedule the install.

Over the weekend I was in Savannah IL at the bike rally and saw lots of Ultras, in each color, and they all had paint issues.  I have yet to see an Ultra without paint problems.

I will let everyone know the result after going to the dealer on Sat.

They're setting up an appointment for the area rep to look at it.

Well the area rep took a look today. All parts with stripes are now on order. He and the dealer were very pleasant and helpful about it. They seemed most concerned with making sure I was happy. And the area rep indicated he's been instructed to do whatever the customer wants - I sensed no negativity whatsoever. They seem to be doing whatever they need to do to  ensure the customer is completely satisfied. The rep confirmed there is a new paint process and the new parts should match the "un-striped" parts. He told me I was the first green bike in the country to present this problem, which surprised me since I know I've seen others posted in this thread. He couldn't give me an ETA for the parts today; just said it could be anywhere from 2 to 12 weeks. I'm in no hurry. I think, even as it is now, it's an awesome bike but with the corrected colors it should be extremely awesome. [smiley=biggthumpup.gif]

I'll post before & after photos later!
