Best that I can tell, none of the SEUC5 tour pak's have graphics on them.

Damn,

That must have saved them a 100 bucks.

I'm with you there AJ!

Great comparison.

I didn't even realize the 2010 T/P doesn't have the graphics on the side.

Great comparison!

It seems that there was a change in the design team at CVO. If you look at the two, there is an obvious difference in philosophy. One is classic and one is retro. "Classic"  is something that will still be "acceptable" in the future while "retro" is more a fad or sign of the times. Just one person's opinion.

It may be that Harley thinks that the target market for SEUCⁿ is getting younger and they want a more "hip" color pattern. However, based on a poll that I did several months ago, it seems most buyers are in their mid to late 50's. I would presume that that would mean that they are a little more conservative than to want flames. ???

One thing I would recommend (and do myself) if I were to buy a brand new 110" is have ALL the mods done at time of delivery. Bite the bullet and install the cams you want, pipes, SERT, a/c, etc. Get it done before hand and covered under the warranty!

At some point the paint scheme gets too busy...they've surpassed that point when they decided to put pinstriped flames on a decent paint job.

The 04/05s looked cool with them and still do but the moco seems to be just digging in their dusty worn out bag of tricks to intice buyers.

News for the moco, many if not most CVO owners have either owned one before or followed them for some time.

Message for our beloved Moco: Its time to up your game (and this ain't it)...or die.

Obviously every year the owners of the previous years bikes bash the new model, and the prospective buyers think it is great. However, this year it is a little different. Aside from the small TP changes, there is no improvement on the '10s over the '09s (which themselves where a big improvement over the earlier SEUC's, if only because of the new frame). The flames, in my mind, are not befitting the bike. Flames are a hot rod style, and the SEUC is an ultimate full dresser, hardly a hot rod, even with the 110 engine. I also think that on two colors (blue and amber) they did put colors upside down, instead of the lighter color on the top. Gives the bike a much better look, as can be seen on the silver/blue '09.

All in all the 2010 models do confirm that the Moco has grounded many aspirations and is designing with cost in mind. The small changes to the models, using existing parts and patterns, the reduction of available colors on almost all of the standard bikes, all speak for a reduced production load and better profitability. They need that with about 30% less bikes sold. So the 2010 are the recession collection, and that is quite good. It helps us owners in keeping resale values in better shape and it helps the Moco in returning to better profitability.

One notable exception is the Ultra Limited, with a price tag of more than $10k less than the CVO Ultra the most tempting offer for anyone wishing to outfit the bike by themselves and have money to spend on mods.

Just my 2 cents.

Ride safely,
Louis

I'm strugggling with the 2010 CVO Ultra paint schemes too.  Maybe its the flames that make it seem too busy or maybe you just need to see them in person but nothing has jumped out and grabbed me yet.

Speaking of... did you notice some of the standard features on this model?

  • 103 c.i. engine
  • Power Port in the Tour-Pak
  • NEW HELICAL CUT 5TH GEAR

Interesting... can I get a new helical-cut 5th gear for my 09? Sure would like to get rid of all the 5th gear chatter on my SERG...

Just my $0.02 worth...

Standard feature after standard feature, that's what I'm talkin' about. To save 10-12k and get what they are offering by way of the limited, is a deal in my book.
I owned a Road King Police with the 103 and it's a strong runner for sure. Plus, I really like the looks of the limited. Out of all of the 2010 bikes,
that's my favorite. From what I can see, I like the new gauges also.. Now the hard part is going to be to keep me out of the dealership...JohnT.
